Happy 94th birthday to David Scott! As an astronaut, Scott participated in some of NASA’s most prominent missions, including Gemini VIII and Apollo 15.

In July 1971, Scott became the seventh person to walk on the Moon and was the first person to drive on the Moon using the Apollo Lunar Rover.

On this day in 1965, astronaut Ed White made history by completing America’s first spacewalk during the Gemini IV mission.

His 23-minute EVA nearly ended in disaster when the crew struggled to relatch the spacecraft hatch. After resolving the issue, they safely repressurized the cabin and returned home.
