Good afternoon, friends. Well, our February 23rd meeting is almost here. It will be at 6:00 pm at the Wapakoneta Middle School. Entrance 1.
This will be our first meeting of 2023 and it is going to be a busy year! Auglaize County is celebrating the 175 year anniversary...hope you got to eat cake yesterday with many of the partners. Ohio Genealogical Society has a theme of "What Brought Them Here 1803-2023" for their conference at the end of April. So we are going to find answers to the Who, What, Where, Why questions of our ancestors arriving in Auglaize County. Our guest speaker this month is a member of the planning committee for the Anniversary Celebration. Come join us and discover the many activities you and your family can join. Looking forward to meeting you.

Good Morning, fellow researchers....We hope everyone had a great holiday season and ready for a new year of searching for our ancestors. My New Year started with a waitress tipping two glasses of ice water down my back before our food came. Lets just say that isn't the first time it has happened. Anyway, our meetings will resume Thursday, February 23rd at 6:00 pm in the Wapakoneta Middle School library. We hope you all can join us.
Upcoming events: My favorite, Roots Tech 2023 begins March 2 till the 4th. This one is free with 200 virtual sessions that stay available for a whole year.....did I say FREE? Check into it at Roots Tech 2023.
Miami County's Routes to Roots in Piqua seems to be a go this year, details to come out soon. That date is March 25.
And best of all, The largest state genealogy conference, The Ohio Genealogical Society Conference is April 26-29th at Kalarahi Resort in Sandusky, Oh. They always have great speakers and some of favorites will be there this year. This year's theme is What Brought Them Here 1803-2023. Since Auglaize County has a big birthday celebration this year, Our programs plus the OGS conference should give us a great understanding of our ancestors traveling here, living here and developing the area. Go to ogsconference.org or www.ogs.org to get a program book. Early bird registration ends March 17. I have a t-shirt that says "It's a Great Day to Learn Something New." See you soon.

Last Thursday, the Society had their last meeting until February. One part of our program was how Halloween frights and evils cam about. this is one of the mentioned celebrations helped bring about candy and the costumes and other haunts started. It was mentioned but we didn't have any facts to go with it. enjoy.
