Thank you everyone for the tremendous community support this evening at our fish fry. We hope you enjoyed the food and getting a chance to check out the new fire station. Our 50/50 winner this evening was Bryan Ball. He generously donated the winnings back to the fire department. Thank you again for everyone’s continued support!

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Louisa County and all of SE Iowa. Any fires will spread very quickly due to high winds and dry conditions.

This morning several members were able to take advantage of the wind conditions and conduct a prescribed burn on the prairie located at the south end park. This was a great training opportunity, especially for some of our newer members to practice using equipment and understand fire behavior.

Prescribed burns offer many benefits for prairie ecosystems. It helps control invasive species and woody encroachment, and improves nutrient cycling and soil health. It also enhances wildlife habitat and biodiversity, while encouraging plant growth and diversity. As a reminder, please contact the Louisa County Dispatch Communications Center before conducting any controlled burns or prescribed fire operations.

Winter Weather Advisory extended until 7:00pm on 3/16/26
* WHAT...Blowing snow. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois and east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Scattered snow showers could also temporarily reduce visibility well under a mile at times.
Action Recommended…Execute a pre-planned activity as instructed in the Description.
