The dance floor was packed, and the smiles were endless at the Abilities First Firemens' Way Prom 2026! Students, families, and staff came together for an afternoon of music, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

This special event would not have been possible without the incredible dedication of so many people. A heartfelt thank you to Firemens' Way teacher Nancy Besio, whose passion and commitment help make this beloved tradition possible each year; Rona Mannain for transforming the venue into a magical "Under the Sea" experience with stunning decorations; Meg Simmons Jackson for coordinating formalwear, alterations, steaming, pressing, and accessories to ensure every student looked and felt their absolute best; and Tiffany Spranzman and Judith McIntosh for providing hair and makeup services that helped our students shine.

We are also deeply grateful to the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge BPOE No. 275 and its members for generously hosting this cherished event and for preparing and serving the delicious food and beverages enjoyed by all.

A huge shout-out to the student volunteers from Arlington High School, Marlboro High School, John S. Burke Catholic High School, Our Lady of Lourdes High School, and John Jay High School, whose enthusiasm, kindness, and support helped make the event even more special.

And a special thank you to the Foundation for Abilities First NY for helping make this joyful celebration of friendship, inclusion, and unforgettable memories possible. 💚💙

🧘‍♀️ Feeling fit, focused, and refreshed! 🧡

Our friends started the day with a relaxing yoga session led by Raina, building flexibility, balance, mindfulness, and confidence while having fun together.

This wellness experience was made possible through the Foundation for Abilities First NY Recreation Fund, which purchased the yoga mats used during class. The Recreation Fund helps provide enriching activities that promote health, connection, and joy for the people we serve...one post at a time!

✨ We’re proud to celebrate Staci as the 2026 Abilities First Person of the Year! ✨

Staci’s story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people are supported, empowered, and given the opportunity to thrive. Her kindness, determination, and spirit inspire everyone around her each and every day.

This spring, we invite you to create a legacy of opportunity for others like Staci through free estate planning with FreeWill. In just 20 minutes, you can create or update your will, protect the people you love, and help sustain Abilities First programs for generations to come.

A gift of any size can help ensure children and adults with disabilities continue to have access to the support and opportunities they deserve.

Cooking up skills, confidence, and teamwork! 👩‍🍳🛒🥗

Friends from O’Rock 1 at Abilities First are enjoying hands-on learning through our expanded Teaching Kitchen program!

Thanks to a Dutchess County Agency Partner Grant, Abilities First continues its partnership with Hudson River Housing using their commercial kitchen at the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory.

Participants collaborate on meal planning, shop for ingredients together, and build important life skills along the way. HRH Skills Specialist Victoria Loverchio guides our WoW participants through recipes, cooking techniques, and healthy meal preparation — all while creating a fun and supportive environment full of learning and laughter. 💙💚
