Last night, shortly before 9:30pm New Hackensack with automatic mutual aid from Hughsonville and the Village of Fishkill FAST were dispatched by DC911 for an attic fire in the Kendall Farms Development. Units encountered an active fire in the attic, crews deployed 2 handlines and quickly knocked down the fire preventing further spread.

While it may be stormy tonight, the high winds and dry brush of spring will be here soon. The NYS Burn Ban is in effect until May 14th. We use this opportunity to remind residents that even outside of this State ban, there is no open burning allowed in the Town of Wappinger at any time of year. For full information regarding outdoor fires please reference the Town of Wappinger Municipal Code Chapter 127.

Shortly after noon, New Hackensack Engine 52-12 arrived as the second due engine to a working fire in Hughsonville Fire Department’s district. Companies operated for 4 hours before returning to service.

At 0955, New Hackensack was dispatched to relocate 1 engine to Hyde Park Fire Station while they were operating at a 2nd Alarm Fire in their district. Engine 52-12 with a crew fulfilled the move up and after half an hour of station coverage, was requested to the scene to provide additional support to the operation.

Engine 52-12 and the members continue to operate with all the other agencies on scene to fight a tough fire. Additional members remain in New Hackensack to ensure coverage of our district.

Thats a wrap! From 8:30am until 3pm we had 3 crews of volunteers out covering our 22 square mile district helping Santa make his way around. This is an event we all look forward to every year.
