If you’re opening a flower garden, a little rain is probably the best good-luck sign you can get! It drizzled on and off the morning of Saturday, May 2, as we officially opened The Gardens at Mesier Park — and we didn’t mind a bit. 🌷🌦️

How lucky we are to have beautiful Mesier Park in the heart of our village, and now a stunning garden nestled beside the Mesier Homestead for all to enjoy.

We are deeply grateful to our friend and Lifetime WHS member, John DiDomizio, for his generosity and vision in making this garden a reality. Although he no longer lives in our community, John holds fond memories of childhood visits to the area. His passion for local history — especially Stoneco — and his desire to honor his family’s legacy inspired this meaningful and lasting gift to the community.

We invite everyone to visit The Gardens at Mesier Park this spring and summer and enjoy the beauty, history, and peacefulness of this special place. 🌸

🎅We're getting ready to ring in the holidays at Mesier Homestead!! First up is our family-oriented Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas Day) and Dutch Holiday Traditions program on Saturday, December 6th. Program times are 11am; 12:15pm and 1:30pm. 🎅
Discover holiday traditions that the Dutch settlers brought with them to New Netherland and sample traditional sweet treats. If you've been especially good this holiday season there may even be a visit from Saint Nicholas himself! Kids, be sure to leave your shoes by the front door! 🎀

As we continue celebrating the rich history of Wappinger, we’re excited to expand our gift shop to get ready for another holiday shopping season—and we want your ideas!

What kinds of items would you love to see that reflect the spirit, stories, and charm of our community? Whether it's historical keepsakes, locally made crafts, books, apparel, or something totally unique, we’d love to hear from you. Your input will help us create a gift shop that reflects the heart of Wappinger and offers meaningful treasures for locals and visitors alike.

Give back and celebrate! Announcing our Spirit of Mesier Celebrates Midsummer cocktail gala on Friday evening, June 13, 2025 at the historic Boathouse in the village of Wappingers Falls. https://www.wappingershistoricalsociety.org/general-8 This event is our big fundraiser of the year, providing much needed funds to enable us to maintain our archives and present new programs and exhibits to the public.

This year’s Gala will be filled with memorable moments, abundant food & drink catered by Simply Gourmet, and live music from Bryan Lammers and The Blend. This great evening honors County Players and Kristin Catalano for their contributions to our community, and celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Town of Wappinger!
