Hillside Lake Fire Company

This week, a select group of members from the Hillside Lake Fire Company had the opportunity to attend the first live burn at the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response Fire Training Center.

This burn was designed to train instructors on the use of the new facility and provided our members with some excellent hands-on experience in a live-fire environment.

Assistant Chief Stallone would like to thank all of the members who came out and participated. Everyone had a great time, gained valuable experience, and represented Hillside Lake Fire Company proudly.

A special thank-you to Ray for inviting us to this event and allowing our members to be part of such an amazing day.

Interested in joining the Hillside Lake Fire Company? Stop by the firehouse any Monday at 6pm or call/text Assistant Chief Stallone at 845-475-5223. We are always looking for new members and have numerous positions available.

Come be part of the fire company.

Take a moment today to remember the lives lost on 9/11 and continue to be lost due to related illnesses. 25 years later and we will always remember.

🎉 Happy 90th Birthday, to our very own Mr. Michael Quinn! 🎉

1936 — a year many moons ago. Fire engines were just beginning to become a thing, horse-drawn apparatus were still in operation, and the famous Halligan bar hadn’t even been invented yet. But in that year, a true legend was born.

Please join the Hillside Lake Fire Company in wishing Mr. Michael Quinn a very happy 90th birthday!

This week, members gathered at the firehouse for a special celebration to honor Mr. Quinn and recognize the incredible impact he has had on our organization and our community throughout the years.

Mr. Quinn has held numerous positions on both the fire and EMS sides of the organization, including serving as an Assistant Chief. His years of dedication, service, leadership, and stories have made him a truly special part of the Hillside Lake Fire Company.

Mr. Quinn, on behalf of all the members of the Hillside Lake Fire Company, we wish you the very best and many, many more years ahead!

Please continue to show up. Continue to tell your stories. Continue to share your knowledge. And most importantly, continue being a living piece of history for this fire company.

Mr. Quinn also wanted to leave one important message for the future generations and everyone reading this post:

“Recruitment is key. Join your local volunteer fire company wherever you may live. Get out, make a difference, and become part of something amazing within your community.”

Those are words we couldn’t agree with more.

Happy 90th Birthday, Mr. Quinn! Thank you for a lifetime of service, dedication, and memories.

Cheers to you and many more! 🚒🎂

Today, members of the Hillside Lake Fire Company had the pleasure of visiting the Fishkill Plains Elementary School day camp!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers who took time out of their day to engage with the campers and counselors. Our team enjoyed teaching the children all about fire safety, demonstrating how our apparatus works, and showcasing our fire gear—including showing the kids exactly what a firefighter looks like in full protective gear during an emergency.

Our goal is always to ensure our youngest neighbors feel comfortable and informed, and it was a privilege to be part of the day camp curriculum.

A special thank you to the staff at Fishkill Plains Day Camp for hosting us and allowing us to share these vital safety lessons.

We appreciate all you do for our community!

Please be advised that smoke from the Canadian wildfires is affecting air quality throughout our area. The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert, and hazy conditions may be visible across the region.

If you suffer from asthma, COPD, or other respiratory conditions, consider limiting your time outdoors until the air quality improves.

If you see heavy smoke (not from the wild fire) or believe you have discovered a fire, please do not hesitate to call 911 immediately.

At this time, it is unknown how long these smoky conditions will remain, but if you step outside, you’ll likely notice the haze and smell of smoke.

Rest assured, your Hillside Lake Fire Company volunteers, along with our partners throughout the East Fishkill Fire District, stand ready to respond should the need arise.

Long overdue, but during tonight’s training we had the opportunity to recognize former Captain Michael Derobertis for his dedicated year of service as Company Captain by presenting him with a handcrafted wooden American flag.

Pictured with Michael are several members following tonight’s drill.

Thank you Mike, for your continued service to the Hillside Lake Fire Company and for your unwavering dedication to training and mentoring our members. Your leadership, commitment, and willingness to share your knowledge continue to make a lasting impact on our department. Congratulations, and thank you for everything you do!
