Today, members of the Hillside Lake Fire Company had the pleasure of visiting the Fishkill Plains Elementary School day camp!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers who took time out of their day to engage with the campers and counselors. Our team enjoyed teaching the children all about fire safety, demonstrating how our apparatus works, and showcasing our fire gear—including showing the kids exactly what a firefighter looks like in full protective gear during an emergency.

Our goal is always to ensure our youngest neighbors feel comfortable and informed, and it was a privilege to be part of the day camp curriculum.

A special thank you to the staff at Fishkill Plains Day Camp for hosting us and allowing us to share these vital safety lessons.

We appreciate all you do for our community!

Please be advised that smoke from the Canadian wildfires is affecting air quality throughout our area. The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert, and hazy conditions may be visible across the region.

If you suffer from asthma, COPD, or other respiratory conditions, consider limiting your time outdoors until the air quality improves.

If you see heavy smoke (not from the wild fire) or believe you have discovered a fire, please do not hesitate to call 911 immediately.

At this time, it is unknown how long these smoky conditions will remain, but if you step outside, you’ll likely notice the haze and smell of smoke.

Rest assured, your Hillside Lake Fire Company volunteers, along with our partners throughout the East Fishkill Fire District, stand ready to respond should the need arise.

Long overdue, but during tonight’s training we had the opportunity to recognize former Captain Michael Derobertis for his dedicated year of service as Company Captain by presenting him with a handcrafted wooden American flag.

The Hillside Lake Fire Company would like to congratulate Firefighter Troy Tucker on his recent graduation from Interior Fire Operations!

Troy has been a member of our department for the past 2½ years and is currently a student at Marist University. Firefighting runs deep in the Tucker family, as Troy is the second generation of his family to proudly serve our community.

On behalf of everyone at the Hillside Lake Fire Company, congratulations, Troy, on this outstanding accomplishment. Remember—never stop training, never stop learning, and thank you for continuing to go above and beyond for your community. We are proud to have you as part of our fire company .

Mutual Aid Response to Fairview Fire District

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Assistant Chief 39-5 responded to a large fire within the Fairview Fire District.

East Fishkill personnel assisted with fire suppression operations while working within a unified command structure alongside Fairview Fire District and numerous county fire and emergency service agencies.

During the incident, Engine 39-13 remained staffed at Hillside Lake Fire Station 3, ready to respond to any calls within our district and provide additional support to neighboring fire districts if needed.

39-5 worked alongside Tower 39-46, Hose Truck 39-81, and Hyde Park 46-11 during fireground operations until command was transferred to another fire officer.

While standing by, our members also responded to an additional motor vehicle accident, demonstrating their continued commitment to serving the community.

We would like to thank all of the agencies we had the opportunity to work alongside during this incident. Strong partnerships and teamwork are what make mutual aid operations successful.

A special thank you goes out to the members who took time out of their day to staff apparatus, stand by for coverage, and assist our community. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

Today, members of the Hillside Lake Fire Company were proud to participate in the Mock DWI event at John Jay High School.

Station 3 was tasked with the extrication of all victims from the simulated motor vehicle crash. Our members worked diligently alongside personnel from the Stormville Fire Company, Wiccopee Fire Company, and East Fishkill Rescue Squad to safely remove all simulated victims from the vehicle as part of this impactful demonstration.

Our hope is that today’s scenario leaves a lasting impression and helps students make safe and responsible decisions in the future. If this demonstration changes even one life, then it was well worth the effort.

Remember: Don’t drink and drive. The consequences can last a lifetime.
