Rollover Motor Vehicle Accident

Today at approximately 11:19AM, along with New Hamburg Eng. Co. 1 units were dispatched for a priority 1 rollover motor vehicle accident on West Main Street. Upon arrival, units confirmed that all occupants were out of the vehicle. All injured parties were evaluated by EMS, with some transported to the hospital for further evaluation and others signing a refusal of medical aid (RMA). All units returned to service at approximately 12:22 PM.

This morning, FF M. Brown, FF C. Rizzo FF J. Rogers, and Lt. Cataneo responded to a reported vehicle fire near the 110 Grill entrance at the Galleria Mall in the New Hamburg Eng. Co. 1 district. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and returned to service.

At 10:51 a.m. today, Members were dispatched for an automatic fire alarm.

Upon arrival, units investigated and located a small kitchen fire that had been extinguished prior to the arrival of first arriving apparatus. Crews confirmed the fire was out, checked for any extension into the surrounding structure, and ventilated the building to remove smoke before returning the residence to the occupant.

Thanks to the presence of working smoke detectors, the fire was detected in its early stages, providing the occupant with valuable time to safely extinguish the fire and notify emergency services. This early warning played a critical role in preventing what could have become a much more significant incident.

All units cleared the scene and returned to service at 11:19 a.m.

The W.T. Garner Engine Company No. 1 reminds all residents to ensure smoke alarms are installed on every level of their home, outside sleeping areas, and inside bedrooms. Test your smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries as needed. Working smoke alarms continue to be one of the most effective tools in protecting lives and property.

🚒 Monday Night Drill 🚒

Tonight, members trained at the Bleachery, practicing hose line advancement skills while several senior members began/refreshed their pumping and drafting operations training.

Training like this helps ensure we’re always prepared to serve our community. Great job to everyone who attended!

ADVISORY🚒

⚠️ DO NOT CALL 911 UNLESS YOU SEE ACTIVE FLAMES
While venturing out today you may experience the smell of burning throughout the area.. A reminder to only call 911 if you see fire as to not overload the 911 system.
The Dutchess County 911 Center has received calls regarding a smokey haze and strong odor of burning wood throughout the area.
• The Cause: This haze and smell are due to large-scale Canadian wildfires drifting into the Hudson Valley. There is no major active local fire causing this widespread condition.
• 911 System Overload: Please DO NOT call 911 simply to report the smell of smoke or hazy skies. Emergency lines must remain open for active, immediate crises.
• When to Call: Only dial 911 if you observe distinct, active flames or a specific, localized column of thick smoke indicating a new, nearby fire.
