Summer Preparedness is Underway in Ocean County
As Ocean County enters the busy summer season, the Ocean County EMS Coordinators continue working closely with our partner agencies to ensure preparedness for the many seasonal challenges, planned events, severe weather incidents, and large-scale emergencies that impact our communities each year.
Summer in Ocean County brings increased population levels, tourism, beach activity, festivals, special events, roadway congestion, and heightened demand on emergency services resources. With hurricane season officially beginning on June 1st, continued coordination between EMS, fire services, law enforcement, hospitals, public health, emergency management, and municipal agencies remains critical to ensuring readiness for any potential emergency.
Current preparedness efforts include:
✅ Planned special event and mass gathering coordination
✅ Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) preparedness and surge planning
✅ Severe weather and hurricane response planning
✅ EMS strike team and staging operations coordination
✅ Shelter and evacuation planning support
✅ Communications interoperability testing
✅ Hospital and healthcare facility coordination
✅ Resource management and situational awareness planning
✅ Training exercises and interagency preparedness initiatives
The Ocean County EMS Coordinators encourage all EMS agencies and emergency responders to remain vigilant throughout the summer months and continue sharing information regarding large gatherings, community events, and operational concerns. Through coordination, communication, and preparedness, we can strengthen our countywide response capabilities and ensure the safety of our residents and visitors.
Preparedness is everyone’s responsibility, and together we stand ready for whatever the summer season may bring.
