Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. Recognizing an overdose can be difficult but there are signs that someone may be overdosing. If in doubt, it is better to treat the event as an overdose. You can help by administering an opioid reversal treatment such as Naloxone and calling 911.

Slow Down and Save a Life! Did you know that speeding only saves about 54 seconds according to studies? On the other hand, obeying speed limits and slowing down saves fuel, money, carbon dioxide and most importantly, lives! According to studies if drivers stopped speeding nationwide, then drivers could save over six million gallons of fuel, $18 million and reduce carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to 5.5 million vehicles. As well, nationwide we could save over 11, 000 lives that would have been lost to speeding related accidents. Slow down, your neighbors, family and the earth will thank you.

Kratom is a substance that has seen a rise in popularity in the United States and can often be seen advertised at gas stations and smoke shops. This substance is often marketed as an herbal, natural alternative to alcohol and with claims that it can assist with mental health symptoms and addiction. Because of these claims, many people are unaware of the dangers of this plant derivative including addiction, respiratory depression and even death.
