The summit focused on strengthening workforce pipelines through collaboration, innovation, and shared strategies for the future of work.

Attendees heard from Chancellor Sonny Perdue, participated in discussions on Certified Work Ready Communities, explored the impact of AI and automation in the workplace, and learned from employer case studies showcasing WorkKeys in action.

This year's Teacher Externship Day gave middle school CTAE teachers a firsthand look at industries across our community—visiting Houston Solar, Grand Farm, Booz Allen Hamilton, and the Museum of Aviation.

From renewable energy and agriculture to technology and aviation, these experiences help bridge the gap between classroom learning and the real skills students need for today’s workforce.

When teachers connect with industry, students win.

We started the morning yesterday the best way we know how—coffee, conversation, and a little economic development at the Robins Regional Chamber Eggs & Issues Breakfast.

Big thanks to our Executive Director Angie Gheesling and Tom Croteau, Managing Director of Client Services with Maxis Advisors, for breaking down big ideas like regional growth, new opportunities, and the sometimes-mysterious world of site selection

We had a great time hosting Developers Day at the rodeo with partners from across the state!

Twelve statewide project managers representing the GDEcD, GA Power, and GA EMC joined us in Houston County for a what has quickly become one of our favorite events to host

Thursday evening kicked off with a reception at the Go Fish Education Center featuring a Wrens Southern Ladies and Gents hat bar and great food from The Perfect Pear Catering, LLC . Guests then enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the rodeo, spent time with Marty Barnes and the rodeo clown, and wrapped up the evening watching the action in the arena — from bull riders to barrel racing and more.

Friday morning kicked off at Project Synergy with a conversation on community relations and remarks from Chairman Dan Perdue from the Houston County Board of Commissioners. The morning continued with an overview of Houston County before wrapping up with a tour of the facility.

We’re always proud to showcase the people, partnerships, and experiences that make Houston County a great place to live, work, and invest.

📣Congratulations to Houston County's FLEX Top 4!

Jayla Allen- Jazzy Jay's Allures
Elias Nelson- Seed Gifts
Bridget Gay- Lasting Memories
Eve Scott- The Courtside Crew

Each of these participants distinguished themselves through strong business models, thoughtful financial planning, coachability, and polished presentations. The margins were tight, and the competition was impressive across the board.

To every student in FLEX: this program is about much more than rankings. Each of you has grown in meaningful ways — building confidence in public speaking, strengthening teamwork and leadership skills, learning how to adapt based on feedback, and developing a deeper understanding of what it takes to launch and manage a business. The growth we’ve seen — personally and professionally — has been remarkable.

Entrepreneurship requires resilience, creativity, and courage — and you’ve demonstrated all three. The businesses you built represent hard work, innovation, and persistence. Most importantly, the skills and confidence you’ve gained will serve you well far beyond this program.
