🚨 WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY 🚨

The Warner Police Department would like to remind everyone that winter weather is heading our way, bringing snow, very cold temperatures, and road conditions that make us all forget how to drive… including people who “grew up driving in this.”

Please remember: 4-wheel drive does not mean 4-wheel stop, cruise control is not your friend on ice, and if you can’t see the road, that’s probably the road’s way of saying stay home.

If you must travel, slow down, give yourself extra time, and keep a safe distance between vehicles. Now is also a great time to check on elderly neighbors, bring pets inside, and make sure space heaters are being used safely (and not as coat racks).

👮‍♂️ Our officers will be out patrolling throughout the storm and are available around the clock for any needed assistance. We’ll be out there so you don’t have to be—unless you really want to.

Stay warm, stay smart, and remember: if it looks icy, it probably is.

🚨 Important Update on Obstructing an Officer in Oklahoma 🚨

Hey everyone, I want to take a moment to explain a couple of laws that affect anyone interacting with law enforcement or first responders.

1️⃣ Obstructing an Officer (§21‑540)
It’s illegal to intentionally interfere with a police officer or other public official while they’re doing their job. That can mean:
• Physically blocking them
• Giving false information
• Trying to hide someone or delay their work

Even words or actions meant to slow down or distract an officer can count. This is considered a misdemeanor and can carry fines or jail time.

2️⃣ New “Buffer Zone” Law (Effective Nov. 2025)
If an officer or first responder tells you to stay at least 25 feet away while they’re working, you must comply.
• Ignoring that order, with intent to interfere or harass, is a misdemeanor.
• This applies to everyone — not just police — including firefighters and EMS.

Bottom line: Our officers and first responders are out there keeping everyone safe. Please cooperate, follow instructions, and give them the space they need to do their jobs.

Think of it this way: If you wouldn’t want someone getting in your way while doing your job, don’t do it to ours. ✅

Stay safe,
Chief Ross

As your Police Chief, I want to make sure our community stays safe and informed about the changes to Oklahoma’s medical ma*****na laws that took effect recently. While medical ma*****na is legal for patients with a valid OMMA card, there are strict limits and responsibilities that everyone needs to understand.

🔹 Medical Ma*****na ≠ Free Pass
Having a medical ma*****na card does not allow anyone to break the law. Driving under the influence, public consumption, and possession beyond legal limits remain serious offenses. We will enforce these laws to keep our roads and neighborhoods safe.

🔹 Obstructing a Police Officer
It’s also important to remember that interfering with law enforcement is never acceptable. Refusing to follow lawful orders, hiding ma*****na from officers, or providing false information during a stop can lead to additional charges. A medical card does not protect against this.

🔹 Transport & Storage Rules
Medical ma*****na must be stored securely and transported legally. Open containers in vehicles or unsecured products can lead to fines or criminal charges. If you are a cardholder, make sure your ma*****na is in sealed packaging and stored safely while in transit.

🔹 Our Goal as Law Enforcement
We fully respect the rights of patients who qualify under OMMA, but our primary mission is public safety. We encourage patients and the public to know the law, follow it, and avoid situations that could put themselves or others at risk.

💡 Bottom line: Medical ma*****na is legal for qualified patients—but safety and compliance are mandatory. Don’t let a misunderstanding of the law put you in trouble. When in doubt, ask questions and follow the rules.
