From May 11 through May 31, our department will be participating in the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

During this enforcement period, officers will be actively enforcing Oklahoma seat belt and child restraint system laws throughout our community.

Seat belts and proper child restraints save lives every day. Taking a few extra seconds to buckle up yourself and ensure children are properly secured can make all the difference in a crash.

✅ Make sure children are properly restrained
✅ Drive safely and distraction-free

Our goal is to help keep everyone safe on our roadways.

🏍️ NATIONAL BIKE TO WORK DAY | MOTORCYCLE SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH 🏍️

Today is National Bike to Work Day, and our department would like to remind everyone to stay alert and share the road safely with motorcycles.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding continues to be a major contributing factor in deadly motorcycle crashes. Excessive speed reduces reaction time, increases stopping distance, and greatly increases the severity of crashes.

Motorcyclists are encouraged to:
✅ Obey speed limits
✅ Wear proper safety gear
✅ Ride sober and distraction-free
✅ Stay visible to other motorists

Drivers are reminded to:
✅ Look twice for motorcycles
✅ Give riders extra space
✅ Check mirrors and blind spots
✅ Avoid distracted driving

Whether you ride daily, occasionally, or are commuting today for National Bike to Work Day, safety is everyone’s responsibility.

***Bike has been recovered and an arrest has been made in this case***

On May 12th, a white male, approximately 40-50 years old, took a young man's motorcycle that didn't belong to him. Unbeknownst to him, the bike didn't work and he was caught on video. The motorcycle is described as a 2025 Honda Grom MSX125 and was taken from the Woodbrier Apartments.

At the Warr Acres Police Department, our 911 dispatchers are the calm in the middle of chaos. They answer every call, gather critical information, and make sure our officers, fire, and EMS get where they’re needed.

Every shift, every call, every second—they’re making a difference.

To our dispatchers: thank you for your professionalism, your focus, and being there for us and our community when we need you the most! Your work does not go unnoticed, and we thank you!

Today, we join our law enforcement partners at the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in mourning the tragic loss of Trooper Vernon Brake, who was killed in the line of duty.

We also extend our deepest condolences to the family of the woman and her young child who lost their lives in this incident.

Our thoughts are with all of the families affected, as well as the members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol during this incredibly difficult time.
