🚌 Remember to stop for school buses that are loading or unloading children. 🚌

Under 47 O.S. § 11-705(A), drivers meeting or overtaking a school bus that is stopped with its red loading signals activated are required to stop before reaching the bus and remain stopped until the red signals are deactivated.

Those flashing red lights mean children may be entering or crossing the roadway. A few extra seconds of patience can prevent a tragedy.

See the red lights? Stop for the bus.

Slow down, stay alert, and help us keep our kids safe.

CELEBRATING DEDICATION AND EXCELLENCE

The Warr Acres Police Department is incredibly proud to announce two outstanding achievements by our officers. These officers have gone above and beyond to bring elite-level training and expertise back to our community.

Please join us in congratulating them!

Certified Motorcycle Officer: Corporal Bowen has successfully completed the rigorous training required to become a certified motorcycle officer. This demanding certification requires exceptional riding skills, precision maneuvering, and specialized traffic safety tactics. You will see him
on the roads soon keeping our streets safe!

The "Triple Crown" Instructor: Captain Drain has achieved a rare and highly respected milestone known in law enforcement as the Triple Crown. This means they have completed all necessary advanced training and obtained official Instructor Certifications in all three foundational policing categories: LEDT (Law Enforcement Driver Training), Fi****ms, and Defensive Tactics.
Having instructors of this caliber within our department ensures our entire force receives top-tier training and enhances the safety of both our officers and the citizens we serve.

Thank you both for your hard work, long hours, and commitment to excellence!

Apparently Daejon Love is trying to negotiate Labor Day weekend traffic enforcement now. 😂

We told him no free passes in Warr Acres… but maybe Moore Police Department is feeling generous. 👀

Either way, slow down, buckle up, and don’t make either of us come introduce ourselves. 🚔

🌞 End Summer on a High Note... Not Driving High

As summer comes to a close, remember that impaired driving doesn't just mean alcohol. Ma*****na and other drugs can slow your reaction time, affect your judgment, and put everyone on the road at risk.

Make a plan before you go:

🚗 Have a sober driver.
📱 Use a rideshare or taxi.
🏠 Stay where you are until you're sober.

Make smart choices so everyone can get home safely.

As students and teachers prepare to head back to school tomorrow, we'd like to remind everyone to slow down and stay alert in and around school zones.

Our officers will be conducting extra patrols in school zones throughout the city. These efforts are focused on keeping our children, parents, school staff, and crossing guards safe as they travel to and from school.

Please remember:
🚸 Obey posted school zone speed limits.
🛑 Watch for children crossing the street or walking near roadways.
📵 Put distractions away and stay focused on driving.
⏰ Leave a few minutes early so you don't feel rushed.

A few extra seconds behind the wheel can make all the difference. Let's work together to ensure every child has a safe start to the new school year.

Drive safely, slow down, and help us protect what matters most.

Speeding isn’t a gamble worth taking. You could get a ticket — or much worse. Speeding Slows You Down.

If you don’t break your speeding habit, you may break your family’s heart. 👩‍❤️‍👨 Speeding Catches Up With You.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all Americans should have safe roads on Independence Day. Plan for a sober ride:

🧨 Schedule a rideshare
🧨 Call a taxi
🧨 Have a sober friend drive you home

Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.

Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with fireworks and grilling – but ditch the keys if you’re planning to drink. Designate a sober driver instead. Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.
