Last month, for Month of the Military Child, our amazing kiddos at both DTA CDC and Bryant CDC got their hands dirty planting vibrant flowers inside donated soldier boots. 🌻🌷🪻🌼

These boots, once worn by our brave service members, now hold new life. They are a perfect symbol of the resilience, strength, and beautiful growth of our military children, who bloom wherever they are planted!

A massive THANK YOU to our community members who donated their old boots to make this special project possible. We couldn't have done it without you!

Check out our little gardeners in action!

Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) Improvements are coming!

We’re excited to announce that CYS is upgrading its childcare database system to a new and improved version! This upgrade will improve efficiency and provide an even better experience for all our patrons.

The system will be down from May 27 – June 15th for the upgrade. During this time, registrations/updates and payment processing will be temporarily unavailable, and we won’t bill your account. Care and programming will also proceed like normal.

Get excited! In the new version, you’ll be able to:

• Make payments
• Sign up for Auto Pay
• View your balance, transactions, receipts, and childcare statements
• Schedule childcare absences
• Upload documents
• Submit withdrawal requests

Below you will find some frequently asked questions. Thank you for your understanding!

Q1. Can I prepay for the June 1st and June 15th billing cycles?
A1. Yes, absolutely! We actually recommend this option. All payments must be submitted on or by May 26,2026.

Q2. When will billing resume?
A2. We are tentatively scheduling billing for Summer Camp on June 18th for weeks 3-6. Detroit Arsenal CDC and Bryant CDC bill the June 1st and June 15th billing cycles that were missed on June 24, 2026.

Q3. When are payments due?
A3. Summer camp will follow the updated payment schedule as far as last days to pay and when spots will be given away. CDC's will have until June 30th to pay for the month of June's care.

Q4. When can we start making payments again?
A4. Both CDCs (and online) will accept payments starting Tuesday June 16, 2026. As a reminder, no programs will be billed yet as we must verify that all bills are correct before we bill any households. The clerks are able to calculate your bill for June if you would like to pay before we bill. Checks and Cash will also not be accepted until Tuesday June 16, 2026.

Q5. I was enrolled in Auto Pay. Will my credit card information stay on file and automatically bill my card again?
A5. No, with our system upgrades we are also upgrading credit card machines. Because of this, anyone enrolled in Auto Pay will have to re enroll into the program. The good news is that this will all be available through the Parent Portal online! We will host a series of Parent Portal info sessions once the system is live.

Q6. Will I be able to access Webtrac to sign up and pay for sports or field trips?
A6. No, Webtrac will also be down during this time. We encourage you to enroll now until May 26th.

Q7. Will you be able to hold a spot for my child in a sport or for a field trip?
A7. We are encouraging everyone to sign up and get payment in before May 26th to ensure a spot in activities happening in June. June activities: MST Drop in Summer Days, iFly Trip, FREE Dance Clinic, Speed & Agility Camp, FREE Golf Clinic, 3 V 3 Basketball League, Dance League, 3 Day Outdoor Recreation Camp, and Golf League.

Q8. Will there be an information session or how to guide about this new system?
A8. Yes! Absolutely! Once we are back up and running, look for that information to come out.

If you have any questions about billing, payments or registrations please reach out to Parent Central Services at usarmy.detroit.id-sustainment.mbx.fmwr-cyss-central-registration@army.mil.

Ms Rizzo, from Bryant CDC at Selfridge would like to send out a huge heartfelt thank you for all the amazing donations for Operation Care Package! The support and generosity shown by our community made a meaningful impact on our military families and service members.

What started out as a fun way for our Strong Beginnings class to learn about giving and helping others within our center, turned out to be a huge outpouring of support from our community outside the Base. We were able to send out 255lbs in much needed supplies to our troops!

We are grateful for eveyrone who helped make this project such a success and for continuing to show support to our military families. 🇺🇸

Thank You for an Amazing Month! 💜

As April comes to a close, we want to send a massive THANK YOU to our entire community for making this Month of the Military Child so incredibly special!

This year’s theme was "Military Children and Youth: Strength in Every Story," and over the past 30 days, you have all truly brought that theme to life. We loved reading, seeing, and celebrating the unique chapters of your families' lives. From our youngest toddlers to our teens, our military kids continuously inspire us with their resilience, adaptability, and joyful spirits.

While the official Month of the Military Child is ending, our admiration and support for our military youth never stops. They are the heart of our community, and we are so proud to be a part of their journey every single day of the year.

Thank you to all the parents, caregivers, staff, and community partners (like BGCA and 4-H!) who helped make this month a resounding success. Keep writing those beautiful stories!

Poem Day: The Story of the Dandelion

Today we celebrate the power of words! In the military community, there is one flower that perfectly tells the story of our children: the dandelion.

This resilient little flower is the official symbol of the military child because it can take root and bloom anywhere the wind carries it. It doesn't just survive; it thrives in every new environment. This perfectly captures our 2026 theme, "Military Children and Youth: Strength in Every Story."

Take a moment today to read this famous poem together:

The Military Child Dandelion

Dandelions put down roots almost anywhere,
They are hardy and upright, a survivor in any climate.
Military children bloom everywhere the winds carry them,
They are well-rounded, culturally aware, and extremely resilient.
They are ready to fly in the breezes that take them
To new adventures, new lands, and new friends.
They learn that to survive means to adapt,
That when one door closes, another opens.
Their roots are strong, planted swiftly and surely.
They know that home is where their hearts are,
And a good friend can be found in every corner of the world.

✍️ Write Your Own Story!
Every military child has a story that deserves to be told. We encourage our families to sit down today and write a short poem together. You don’t have to be a professional writer, just speak from the heart!

Let’s Get Moving: Music & Move Day!

It is time to turn up the volume and find your groove! Today is Music & Move Day as we continue to celebrate the Month of the Military Child.

Music is a universal language that connects us all, regardless of where the mission takes us. Whether it is a favorite song from a previous duty station or a new beat discovered today, music helps our military children express their emotions and tell their unique tales. Moving together not only builds physical health but also reinforces the "Strength in Every Story" by fostering joy and connection within our community.

Show Your Colors: Red, White, and Blue Day! ❤️🤍🩵

Today, we are wearing our pride on our sleeves! As we continue to honor the "Strength in Every Story" during Month of the Military Child, we invite everyone to wear Red, White, and Blue.

These colors are more than just part of a flag; for our military children, they represent the commitment, service, and community that shape their unique journeys. Every time a military family moves or a parent deploys, these colors serve as a constant reminder of the home and values they carry with them, no matter where in the world they are stationed.

❤️Red: Courage. The bravery our children show when facing new schools, new friends, and long goodbyes.

🤍White: Purity of Spirit. The resilience and optimism that military youth bring to every new adventure.

🩵Blue: Loyalty. The unwavering support military children show for their families and their country.
