Just days after delivering a check for $10,000 to Hospice of Warren County, board members of the 12th Annual Leek Party in Memory of LeRoy Van Tassel went a bit further down the street to make another donation. A $10,000 check was given to Warren General Hospital and the Cancer Care Center.

The investigation began in April 2025 after the state Ethics Commission’s Investigative Division was notified that Young violated provisions of the state Ethics Act. A full inquiry began in June 2025 with a letter forwarded to Shawn Young. The findings report was sent to Young in February 2026.

More than 20 teachers have been honored during the inaugural Andrew Pollard Awards.
The awards ceremony was hosted recently in the Mead Family Library Room of the Struthers Library Theatre and included music and dancing in addition to the awards presentation. Sponsored by the Kinzua Youth Development Center, the event was held by teachers and was for teachers, to celebrate a year of hard work done in county classrooms.
