Today for the Thursday Moment of Gratitude, we are turning the tables a bit by asking you who you think we should recognize next. You can suggest anyone who works for the Army, as long as you feel that this person is making a difference and is an unsung heroine or hero.

We will recognize one of your recommended teammates each Thursday.

To submit a name simply send an e-mail to the TACOM Public Affairs mailbox at: [email protected] along with a brief statement about why we should recognize this person. You will be notified by e-mail if your person is selected and told when a post about them will appear.

The Thursday Moment of Gratitude is designed to recognize Detroit Arsenal teammates, who continue to provide outstanding support during difficult times. These are the folks, who go above and beyond to keep the Army mission going.

Today's Thursday Moment of Gratitude is in honor of Maj. Gen. Dan Mitchell, TACOM Commanding General, who will officially relinquish command of TACOM tomorrow morning to Brig. Gen. Darren Werner.

Sir, although we will not be able to attend the Change of Command in person, we want to send our best wishes to you and your family.

We have been strengthen and forever changed by your leadership, kindness and continuing efforts to help us stay focus on the Army mission. Because of you, Sir, we are stronger, more resilient and ready for the challenges ahead.

It is appropriate to end this post with a quote from Maya Angelou "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel." Thank you for making us feel like part of the team.

Teammates: You can watch a livestream of the ceremony, which starts at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 12th by going to https://tacom.army.mil/2020coc.

Our Thursday Moment of Gratitude (TMG) goes out to the Red River Army Depot Fire Department team, part of the TACOM family, who recently supported the Bowie County Fire Department in putting out a fire just outside of New Boston, Texas.

We want to close this post with a quote from Chief Kennedy, a firefighter, who said "People are always asking me how is it that firefighters run into a burning building when everyone else is running out. Courage is the answer."

Thanks for having the courage to be not only #Army Strong, but the best of the best.

Trying times always make it a little more difficult to be grateful, but as we head into the Memorial Day weekend, we would like to thank the men and women, who are part of our Nation's Armed Forces for their unwavering commitment and dedication.

They remind us everyday that we are truly in this together.

Have a great Memorial Day, and please read Maj. Gen. Mitchell's and Command Sgt. Maj. Charles' Memorial Day message to the Detroit Arsenal workforce. You can find the message at

Just finished watching Gen. Perna's latest video to the AMC workforce .

The video made me smile, as GEN Perna talked about checking into a hotel in DC and cleaning the remote control, the door knob and numerous other things in his room until he felt comfortable. He also talked about how proud he is of the AMC workforce. He reminded us to "don't let up now...continue to do what is in your best interest."

He ended by saying it will take the "total team" to do this, he needs each of us to stay vigilant.

Gen. Perna's message is a great example of real leadership during a crisis.

Take time to watch it...I guarantee it will make you smile.

Hey Detroit Arsenal teammates,

If you are starting to lose track of the days, you are not alone. Today, we want to pivot to something a little different and focus on providing resources for parents, who may be feeling a little stressed as the days turn into weeks. So, put down your lesson plans and take a little time for yourself. Below are resources we gathered with you in mind.

First up is a program called Breathe. You can get the app for your phone for free. The program is designed to take you through a series of breathing exercises each day to help you relax a bit.

Next we have another free app called Daily Yoga. Each day you are reminded to take time for yourself with quick and easy yoga classes that you can do in your home.

Most insurance providers in Michigan are now offering access to telebehavioral health services. Find additional information at https://www.michigan.gov/whitmer/0,9309,7-387-90499_90640-521549--,00.html

And don't forget the CDC has an entire webpage called Stress and Coping which provides numerous resources to help.

The information above is provided as a courtesy and other than the CDC there is no implied endorsement of Breathe or Daily Yoga by the Federal Government, Dept. of Defense or U.S. Army.

Happy Friday,

The latest video message from Gen. Gus Perna to the AMC workforce starts with a personal insight into the general's life as he talks about his wife cutting his hair and having to iron his own uniforms. He also talks about a quote from Winston Churchill "Sometimes it not enough to do our best; we have to do what is required." He adds "We are in one of those moments, we have to do what is required both personally and professionally...stay disciplined with ourselves and those around us."

He asked us to reach out to people that we know those on the front lines: medical community, leaders and say thanks.

Gen. Perna's video is heartfelt and personal. It's a good way to end your week on a positive note.
