More than a decade ago, Leah came through the Warren Family Missionโs recovery program seeking hope and a fresh start. Today, her life stands as a powerful testimony of Godโs faithfulness, redemption, and the transforming power of Christ. We are honored to share her story.
"I was blessed to grow up in a loving Christian home. As a child, I was active in sports, did well in school, and was surrounded by great friends and family. My life took a turn in tenth grade after a knee injury and the loss of a close friend. As I began spending time with the wrong crowd, I slowly drifted away from the values I had been taught. What started as experimentation led me down a dark road of addiction that I never imagined I would travel.
By the summer after high school graduation, I was fully addicted and began a cycle of treatment centers, temporary sobriety, and relapse. I managed to graduate from college and become a teacher, but behind the scenes, I was living a double life. For years, I was a full-time teacher and a full-time addict. Eventually, the consequences caught up with me. I experienced an overdose, spent time in a psychiatric ward, and watched relationships fall apart. I was spiritually empty and emotionally broken.
In the middle of my darkest season, God began pursuing me. I remember crying out to Him and experiencing His presence in a way I had never known before. He led me back to Ohio, and to Hannah's House. This is where I began attending church and surrounding myself with believers who spoke truth into my life. I thought God would heal me instantly, but instead He chose to restore me one step at a time. Through the ministry of Hannahโs House and the Warren Family Mission, God breathed life back into me. Through His Word, prayer, and faithful people He placed in my path, He rebuilt my life from the ground up.
As my relationship with Christ grew, so did my recovery. God taught me that healing is often a process and that true freedom comes through surrendering every part of our lives to Him. He gave me a strong foundation, godly friendships, and a purpose beyond anything I could have imagined. In time, He brought my husband into my life, and together we have been blessed with three beautiful children. Today I still teach, but now I have the privilege of teaching Godโs Word at Hannah's House and helping others find recovery through biblical principles that have transformed my own life.
Since then, I have experienced both incredible blessings and profound losses, including the passing of loved ones who meant the world to me. Yet even through grief, God has remained faithful. He allowed me the honor of caring for family members in their final years, a gift I will always treasure. Looking back, I can see that God gave me the life I once desperately longed forโnot because I earned it, but because of His grace and mercy.
My story is proof that no one is beyond God's reach. If He can take a broken, addicted, hopeless life and turn it into one filled with purpose, faith, and gratitude, He can do the same for anyone. To Him be all the glory."
