When residents of DuBois raised tough questions about the city's finances at last week's council meeting, Interim City Manager Ben Kafferlin was ready with answer.

Lisa Hagberg had advised and implemented a "disbursement account" strategy. In response to concerns about the ongoing federal public corruption case involving former city officials, Kafferlin outlined the financial safeguards now built into DuBois's banking and accounting structure:

"With the disbursement account in place, there is only one way to spend money out of this city. You only have one bridge, so to speak, to monitor the financial traffic."

Stronger oversight. Greater transparency. A cleaner system for the community.
