recently hosted two exceptional cadets from West Point - The U.S. Military Academy for a high-impact Academic Individual Advanced Development (AIAD) internship. Conducted in partnership with the USMA Department of Mathematical Sciences, the three-week program integrated Cadet Ta Nguyen (USMA ’28 | Major: Operations Research, USMA Drill Team) and Cadet William Gray (USMA ’28 | Major: Applied Statistics and Data Science, Army Lacrosse) into a critical Army modernization initiative: developing an AI-driven platform to automate and enhance acquisition cost estimation.

The cadets leveraged data to solve real-world acquisition challenges. To build a more accurate forecasting and budgeting model, PM TS requires machine learning algorithms capable of analyzing historical data, market trends, and procurement variables. Cadets Nguyen and Gray executed a vital proof-of-concept for this overarching AI architecture by investigating the historical Operations & Maintenance (O&M) lifecycle of the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT) fleet.

The cadets achieved these core objectives:
• Data Aggregation & AI-Powered Analysis: Navigated large-scale Army data systems to extract historical data, utilizing AI-powered tools to clean the data and identify key patterns.
• Mathematical Modeling: Conducted statistical analysis on operational tempo (OPTEMPO) and procurement variables to identify primary O&M cost drivers.
• Strategic Communication: Synthesized complex data and delivered briefings to inform Army acquisition decision making.

Here, the cadets are pictured with PM Transportation Systems Zina Kozak-Zachary. Way to go, gentlemen, and thank you for your collaboration on improving acquisition cost estimation!

We hosted a send off for our outgoing executive officer, MAJ (P) Janet Williams, this week to recognize her for her tour as XO, and to wish her well in her new assignment. During the taco bar lunch held in her honor, she was presented the Meritorious Service Medal. She now heads to the Army’s Global Tactical Edge Acquisition Directorate (G-TEAD,) the acquisition hub created to close the critical gap between the pace of modern threats and the speed of capability delivery. Well done, MAJ Williams, and all the best in your next assignment!

Congrats to our PdM Petroleum and Water Systems team, part of , for just completing First Unit Equipped and New Equipment Training activities last week at U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command, U.S. Army Fort Lee for the Petroleum Expeditionary Analysis Kit, or PEAK.

First Unit Equipped is a critical milestone that marks the first scheduled date a new materiel system is handed over to a designated unit, alongside the completion of NET. FUE is the point at which a military unit achieves the baseline capability to operate, maintain, and employ the new technology in its designated mission.

PEAK replaces decades-old fuel quality surveillance equipment and will expeditiously provide test results at the point of need. The PEAK provides Soldiers the ability to measure the quality of fuel we put into our ground vehicles and support equipment and aviation assets. PEAK ensures Soldiers can safely execute missions.
