Howland Police FOP Lodge 163 accepted a $783 check from Mission BBQ in Howland this week. We are very grateful for the continued partnership and support from Mission BBQ. All proceeds stem from sales of their Hometown Hero cups at the check-out counter. The money will be used to continue our mission through donations, public events, charity support, and scholarships. Thank you Mission BBQ! Pictured left to right is Chief Roberts, Pete from Mission BBQ, Sergeant Wert (FOP President), and Detective Brancaccio (FOP Vice President).

***PSA***

Our department has taken multiple scam reports for local businesses in recent weeks. If you work for a business it is our recommendation that you know your policies and procedures in reference to removing cash from the business during working hours. It is not a normal situation to receive a phone call from “corporate” and get told to remove cash and go deposit it into a Bitcoin machine at a different location. In that situation you would know if that is normal for your place of employment and it never hurts to double check with a supervisor.

Thank you!
