🧡 Today, on National Gun Violence Awareness Day, the Warren Police Department encourages responsible firearm storage as an important step in preventing unauthorized access and accidental injury.

Safe firearm storage helps protect families, children, and our community.

As demonstrated during last week's firearm safety event, free cable gun locks are available 24/7 at the Warren Police Department Front Desk while supplies last.

In this edition of Commish’s Corner, Commissioner Eric Hawkins goes across jurisdictional lines for a conversation on what happens when the duty to protect meets the place you call home.

We’re joined by Roseville Police Chief Mitch Berlin and Center Line Public Safety Director Paul Myszenski to explore the deep connections and local pride that define law enforcement in our area. While these leaders wear different patches, their roots are firmly planted right here in our community.

Yesterday, we paused to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who protect our community. Our Police Week ceremony at the FOP Hall was a moving tribute to those we have lost, featuring a solemn Roll Call of Heroes and a presentation by our Honor Guard. This week is a reminder of the immense pride we feel and the daily risks our officers face. To those who gave everything: your courage lives on in our hearts, and your service will never be forgotten.

Yesterday, Sunday May 10, 2026 marked the beginning of National Police Week 2026, a time to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and to stand in gratitude for those who continue to serve and protect each day.

They are coaches, neighbors, parents, and friends, but when the call comes in, they are your first responders. This week, we celebrate the men and women who balance the toughness of the job with the compassion our community deserves.

Thank you for the "thank yous," the waves from your front porches, and the partnership that makes this city strong. We are proud to stand watch for you.
