All are welcome to join us at the Warren Public Library at 6pm this Thursday, May 14 for a free talk. As the American colonies fought to free themselves from the British two hundred and fifty years ago, one fifth of that population — the enslaved African-American population — undertook their own struggle for liberty. Their stories of ingenuity and heroism speak to us, two and a half centuries later, of how precious the birthright of freedom really is, and how it’s worth fighting for. New York Times bestselling author M. T. Anderson, whose National Book Award-winning novel The Pox Party explored this history, will discuss some of the lost and overlooked stories of that revolution within the Revolution, and why they’re important to remember in this celebratory anniversary year. Part of the MRV Libraries’ 250th anniversary speaker series.

Residents of Waitsfield, Fayston, and Warren are invited to check in with the Mad River Valley Planning District and share their perspective on life in the Valley by taking the fourth Community Wellbeing Survey.

The Wellbeing Survey is a tool to help our community better understand how the MRV’s people, economy, and environment are doing. Question topics include life satisfaction, mental and physical health, community vitality, social connectedness, access to recreation, and material wellbeing.

Take the survey for a chance to win prizes from the following wonderful local businesses:
