Stay Weather Aware!!

The hot, humid, and unsettled pattern brings additional storm potential later this afternoon and evening. Some activity will likely develop over northern portions of our area beginning late this afternoon, with more storms expected to organize to the northwest and spread in this evening into tonight. This remains a lower confidence forecast scenario, so the best advice is to remain weather aware and have a way to receive warning information later today into tonight.

Clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms have rapidly developed across Lake Erie this morning. These storms will come ashore in Northwest Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio, with damaging winds, hail, and flooding possible. A second round of storms is expected again this afternoon and evening across northern Ohio.

A persistent heat dome will remain in place this week, with temperatures warming into the mid-90s and heat indices in the low 100s. Remain in air-conditioned spaces as much as possible, drink plenty of water and fluids throughout the day, wear loose-fitting, lightweight, and light-colored clothing, and avoid high-energy activities, strenuous outdoor work, or exercising during the hottest hours. Don't forget to check on family members, older adults, neighbors, and people without reliable cooling, and NEVER leave children or pets alone in a hot vehicle.

08/22/2026

Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of a cold front this afternoon through the evening.
There is a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for a few strong to severe storms over northern Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania. The main severe hazard will be isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph followed by a lesser threat of large hail up to the size of Quarters possible.

08/10/2026

Thunderstorms tonight will bring torrential rainfall. Areas that see repeated rounds of storms could experience flash flooding. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.

08/10/2026

A thunderstorm complex will move east from southern Michigan and across Lake Erie this morning, mainly impacting counties near the lakeshore with damaging winds and heavy rain. A second round of storms is possible farther south this evening and tonight, especially from Bowling Green to Canton.

08/09/2026

Confidence is increase in a line of thunderstorms coming in from the west and impacting portions of northern Ohio between 8 pm - 12 am. There is lower confidence in a second round of storms late tonight into tomorrow morning.

Another possible round of severe weather could hit us this evening, into the overnight hours. PLEASE make sure you have multiple ways of being notified of severe weather, especially during the night.

Ongoing convection in the vicinity of Lake Superior has the potential to impact portions of the Lower Great Lakes and Upper Ohio Valley region later today. Damaging wind gusts will be the primary hazard if strong to severe storms reach our area. Stay tuned to the latest forecast as it continues to evolve.
