There aren't enough rehabbers or resources to help every bunny in-need, and NO rehabber is a better replacement for Mom, so please do your best to avoid having a rabbit emergency!

Dog and cat risks do not justify removal from the wild! We understand the frustration but relocating nests causes abandonment and automatically taking bunny's to rehabbers takes critical space away from truly orphaned buns.

Dogs should be tethered if you know you have an active nest in their yard. The nesting duration is rapid so tethering your companion for just a few weeks will allow bunnies to safely leave their nest, and your yard.

If you allow your cats outside, please at least bring them in during the spring and summer nesting seasons or limit their times outside to help reduce risk.

Private message here for wildlife concerns; we can help you promptly if you respond to our questions!

It’s 14° out right now w a high of 20° today. Tomorrow’s high in the teens. Windchills today and the next week will be in the single digits....close to ZERO. Please BRING YOUR PETS INSIDE.

Rouge and Ecorse residents if you see a dog forced to live outside in these extreme weather conditions w no shelter call police, and if you get nowhere send us a message.

We do NOT advocate leaving a dog outside, but if you feel you must....you MUST provide plenty of STRAW. If you’re in need, contact us so we can make sure you can get some.

Don’t be cruel. BRING YOUR PETS IN!

Don't Feed Bread to Birds

Feeding bread to birds is a pastime as old as extra bread. But while birds are happy to scoop up your stale offerings, there are a lot of reasons why this is a bad idea.

What is the big deal about chaining a dog? This is a question that we are often asked. We have been helping chained dogs exclusively for almost ten years now and this is our answer:

1. A chained dog is deprived of all of the things that matter to a dog. What are those things? Exercise, sniffing new smells, playing, exploring, socialization, companionship, food, water, warmth from the cold and escape from the heat, feeling good (health), comfort, learning new things, and pleasing their family.

2. Chained dogs most often live in deplorable conditions (garbage, feces, clutter, dilapidated dog houses, rusted food bowls, etc.)

3. Chained dogs are often the most neglected. When we say the MOST neglected...we are not joking.

4. Chained dogs are more likely to bite (even a child), due to not being socialized and trying to protect their "space" as it's all they have.

5. Chained dogs often carry disease and parasites as they lack vet care. They are also at risk for certain cancers as they are most often not spayed/neutered. Don’t forget pyometra of the uterus (deadly infection from a female not being spayed).

6. Chained females are targets for rape as loose and strays dogs can easily take advantage of them. This increases our overpopulation problem too!

7. Chained dogs are more subjected to trauma. Other dogs and humans can easily hurt them and they are forced to fight as their flight option has been taken.

8. Chained dogs are often hungry and thirsty as they tip over their bowls with their chains. They are also often forgot about by their owners as they are “out of sight, out of mind.”

9. Chained dogs cannot protect their owners as they are chained! Want to break into a home? A house with a chained dog is an easy target! Everyone stopped listening to the dogs barks and cries a long time ago:-(

10. A chained dog lives a prison sentence, without parole, for a crime that it didn't commit. This is the BOTTOM LINE... the dog is a prisoner!

P.S. No worries...we took care of this guy pictured:-) His before and after pics coming soon:-)

P.S.S. For those that do not understand why we help chained dogs...this is why
