On Saturday, July 18th, the Warren Township Public Library, the Warren Community Building, and the Warren Museum each held events consecutively. Valerie Woodley wanted to use some of the monetary gift from the Carnegie Corporation to have John Kokoris do a program called "Revolutionary Illinois" and remembered that the Community Building wanted to have something to help celebrate their 175th Anniversary. Valerie asked Gloria Benson, from the Community Building and Kathy Burmeister, from the Warren Area Museum of History if they'd like to each hold something on the same day. The day started with the Warren Museum being open from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. People could then meet at the Community Building for John Kokoris' presentation of "Revolutionary Illinois" from 1:00-2:00 p.m.. This was sponsored by the Warren Township Public Library. After the program, everyone went outside to take down the current flag and replace it with a replica flag of 1851. Sharon Abrams and her husband were there. Sharon changed out the flags. Sharon's great, great, great, great grandfather was Freeman A Tisdel who constructed The American House or Warren Hotel, now called the Community Building, in1851. To end the afternoon, the Community Building had historic displays out and held an ice cream social. During the ice cream social people could go outside and have their picture taken with an old stage coach. Thank you to everyone who came to the events and those that helped make it all happen!
