American Red Cross K9 Action Team The American Red Cross Volunteer K9 Action Team provides "comfort therapy" to disaster victims and a Our dogs have gone through extensive training and testing.

Our team began in 2009 with Kathy Miller and her Service Dog Gus from Trumbull Co. OH

We have grown t o4 K9 handlers, one support member & 5 dogs. Jerry, Joan with Oki & Reno, Carole with Skylee & Toree & Kathy with Gus. UPDATE July 2016: Team members are Jerry, Carole with Toree, Joan with Reno & Indy and Kathy with Gus. Gus has been in 2 Red Cross commercials. We are the “comfort” part of the

Comfort and Aid you think of when you think of the American Red Cross. Our dogs are available for local disasters as therapy dogs for first responders and clients. Our K9 Team attends Military functions such as Yellow Ribbon Events, deployments and reintegration’s to give comfort to the Soldiers and their families during those stressful times. When invited we go into schools to present pet safety classes. We give Pet First Aid classes with hands-on demonstrations. We are ambassadors for the American Red Cross, doing community parades, health fairs and community events. We are the biggest billboard the Red Cross has. The dogs draw a crowd of all ages and with their Red Cross uniforms, they are easily recognized and deeply loved.
