Let's Talk Paint 🎨🎉 We only accept oil-based paints as household hazardous waste (HHW) at our Collection Facilities. Latex paint, however, is not considered hazardous. The main issue with latex paint is simply that it’s a liquid, and most trash services do not accept liquids in the garbage.

If you have leftover latex paint, the good news is it can be safely disposed of at home. Just leave the lid off and allow the paint to fully dry out in the can. Once it has hardened completely, it is no longer a liquid and can be placed in your regular household trash. Be sure to bag the can before setting it out at the curb with your other waste.

Bring your Oil-Based Paints to our Collection Facilities:
♻️ Trumbull County: Open Wednesdays from 10am-3pm
Once-A-Month Saturday Collections: June 6, July 11, August 1, September 12, October 3

♻️ Geauga County: Open Fridays from 10am-3pm
Once-A-Month Saturday Collections: June 27, July 18, August 15, September 19, October 24

As end-of-school pizza parties roll in, we also get a lot of pizza box recycling questions ♻️ Quick reminder: if the box is mostly clean, it can be recycled. Just a little grease and cheese is no big deal (we’ve seen worse 😅) 🍕

Grilling season is back 🍔🌭☀️ Before firing up the grill, don’t forget to check those old propane tanks hiding in the garage or shed 👀

Propane tanks should never be placed in your curbside recycling bin or regular trash due to safety hazards. If you have old, damaged, rusted, or unused tanks taking up space, make sure you bring them to our Collection Facilities! We accept tanks (along with other electronics, appliances, and household hazardous waste items) on Wednesdays in Trumbull County, on Fridays in Geauga County, and on Once-A-Month Saturdays ♻️ Learn more today at gottagogreen.org 🎉

POV: On the way to recycle electronics…😎🐶♻️ Electronics contain reusable materials and components that can be recovered instead of sent to a landfill. Recycling helps reduce waste, conserve natural resources, and lessen the environmental impact of mining for new materials.

It’s also an important step in protecting your personal information. Devices like phones, laptops, and tablets can still contain sensitive data if not disposed of properly. In addition, recycling electronics supports jobs and industries focused on collecting, sorting, dismantling, and processing materials for reuse.

Your old electronics may be done with you, but many of their materials can still have a second life!

Every household has one...A box. A drawer. A tangled tote bag sitting in the basement, kitchen junk drawer, garage shelf, or “that cabinet” nobody talks about. Inside? Approximately 47 mystery cables.

Phone chargers for phones that no longer exist. One AUX cord. Three HDMI cables. A remote with no matching device. A charger that “might go to something important.” Random earbuds. An old GPS. A digital camera cable from 2009. And somehow…at least one cord tied into an impossible knot.

You tell yourself you’ll go through it someday.

Then spring cleaning arrives, you open the Emotional Support Box of Cables, stare into the abyss for 12 seconds, and quietly close it again 😅 But honestly, if you’ve got old electronics, cords, chargers, keyboards, or devices collecting dust, spring is a great time to finally clear them out responsibly ♻️

Our Collection Facilities accept old cords and cables for proper disposal. On Wednesdays in Trumbull County, on Fridays in Geauga County, and on Once-A-Month Saturday collections 🎉
