We are thrilled to continue to introduce you to the members of our team. Our assistant chief Lucas Van Vught is living out his childhood dreams of driving fire trucks, and makes sure that we take such good care of ours! Our training on Wednesday night was the culmination of all of the work we have been doing this summer. We put all of the skills we have been working on to the test in a mock scenario structure fire. We practiced our water supply operations, interior attack, search and rescue, mayday, RIT, communications, and scene support. It was a fantastic and useful end to our summer training series.

July is the peak month for grill fires and 20% of fires are caused by grills that haven't been cleaned. Gas grills were involved in an average of 9,235 home fires per year, including 4,662 structure fires and 4,573 outdoor fires annually. Leaks or breaks were primarily a problem with gas grills, according to data provided by the National Fire Protection Association. There are many things you can do to grill safely, so check out all of our tips!
