Last night’s firefighter training was a continuation of drafting and flowing of water. It’s vital that we practice this important skill because when we are fighting fires we need to secure a water source and use it to put out the fire. Our apparatus systems are complex so hands on practice ensures that we are ready to fight fires.

Our volunteer firefighters were on hand to help with traffic control during this morning’s digging up of the 1976 bicentennial time capsule. A Sugarbush gondola was unearthed and the artifacts inside were brought to the fire station to be cleaned and examined. It was an exciting morning for our little town!

Last night’s training was the beginning of the Warren Fire Department’s summer training series of pumps and hose operations. The firefighters got out all of the engines and the ladder truck last night to practice drafting and flowing water from the snowmaking pond. This is an essential skill in rural firefighting when fire hydrants are not available.
