Trumbull County Sheriff's Office Welcome to our page. This forum is for community engagement with the Sheriff's Office. Our county is located in the Northeastern part of the state.

We would like to welcome you to our Official page, which is designed to help you learn about and interact with our office. We strive to be the most innovative Sheriff's office in the State of Ohio. It is situated roughly between the Youngstown, Cleveland and Akron corridors. It was established on July 10, 1800, serving as the seventh county in the northwest territory. It is named after Jo

nathan Trumbull, Governor of Connecticut, who once owned the land in this region. The county has a total area of 635 square miles. It is the only square county in the entire State of Ohio with each side being approximately 25 miles. Trumbull County consists of seven cities: Cortland, Girard, Hubbard, Newton Falls, Niles, Warren, Youngstown and five villages: Lordstown, McDonald, Orangeville, West Farmington, and Yankee Lake. The City of Warren is the county seat and we are home to Mosquito Lake State Park, National Packard Museum, McKinley Memorial, Amish Community and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers Baseball Team. We serve approximately 225,000 people.

Trumbull County Sheriff Mike Wilson was proud to host our Kids & Cops Camp Out, August 14–16, at Mosquito Lake Campground! 🏕️

Throughout the weekend, local youth had the opportunity to spend time with law enforcement officers while enjoying a variety of outdoor activities and making memories together. The kids tried their hand at fishing, kayaking, archery, and an obstacle course, along with plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors, have fun, and get to know the officers who serve their communities.

We are incredibly grateful to the law enforcement departments and officers who volunteered their time, along with the TORCH Conference, Community Connection, and our valued community partners who helped make this event possible. The dedication and support from everyone involved helped create a fun and meaningful experience for the kids.

More than just a weekend of activities, the Kids & Cops Camp Out provided an opportunity for youth and law enforcement to connect in a relaxed and positive environment. We hope the friendships and conversations shared throughout the weekend helped build greater understanding, mutual respect, and trust that will continue long after camp ended.

Recognizing Valor and Teamwork

On August 4, 2026, TCJ staff responded to a serious emergency involving an inmate in the general population who had attempted su***de. What followed was a coordinated response from multiple staff members who immediately stepped in to provide assistance and support during a critical situation.

Correction Officers Palmer and Thomas, along with Custodian Bornemiss, immediately stepped in and took action. Officer Stout-Zakrajsek and Medical Assistant Singleton began providing first aid until EMS arrived. Their actions, along with the efforts of the staff around them, helped bring a frightening situation under control.

For their response, Correction Officers Palmer, Thomas, and Stout-Zakrajsek, Medical Assistant Singleton, and Custodian Bornemiss were presented with Letters of Commendation for Valor.

This response was truly a team effort. Several additional staff members responded and assisted throughout the incident. While they are not individually named in this recognition, their contributions were an important part of the overall response and did not go unnoticed.

We want to extend our sincere appreciation to all of our officers and staff who responded and assisted. Their willingness to step forward, work together, and carry out their responsibilities during a challenging situation reflects the dedication and professionalism of the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office.

Please help us to congratulate Sergeant Todd Harvey as for being selected as the Jail Employee of the Month for July 2026. Sergeant Harvey has served with the Sheriff’s Office since August 2006 and is recognized for his experience, leadership, communication skills, and willingness to share his knowledge with others. He has also taken on added responsibilities when needed and has demonstrated sound judgment in resolving troublesome situations. We congratulate Sergeant Harvey and thank him for his continued dedication and service to the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office.

***SEARCH WARRANT PRESS RELEASE***

On August 19, 2026, the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office TAG Drug Task Force executed a state search warrant in the 3500 block of Ivy Hills Circle located in Bazetta Township. The search warrant was obtained after a lengthy drug trafficking investigation into the residence. As a result of the search warrant, agents seized approximately 55.6 grams of suspected co***ne, 1 handgun, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, and approximately $2,400.00 in U.S. currency. One male subject was arrested on scene for a warrant out of Warren Municipal Court. We would like to thank the citizens of Trumbull County for their continued support as we work to make our communities a safer place.

The TAG Drug Task Force was assisted by the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office, Warren Police Department, Warren, Ohio, and the Bazetta Township Police Dept.

Please help us congratulate Officer Elliot Palmer for being selected as the Jail Employee of the Month for June 2026.

Officer Palmer has served with the Sheriff’s Office since February 2022 and has consistently demonstrated a positive attitude, dependability, and professionalism. He is always willing to assist his fellow officers and understands the importance of teamwork in a correctional setting. Officer Palmer approaches his duties in a calm and respectful manner and can be counted on to complete his assignments professionally. We thank Officer Palmer for his continued dedication and service to the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office.

Last week, the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office had the pleasure of providing security throughout the 180th Trumbull County Fair. With nearly 38,000 people attending over the course of the week, the fair was a tremendous success and a great opportunity for our community to come together.

While there were several incidents that required law enforcement intervention, the safety and security of fairgoers remained our top priority. Thanks to the cooperation and professionalism of our deputies, fair staff, and partner agencies, these situations were addressed quickly to help ensure a safe environment for everyone in attendance.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Trumbull County Fair Board, the dedicated 4-H members, exhibitors, volunteers, vendors, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this year's fair possible. Your hard work and commitment continue to make the Trumbull County Fair a tradition that generations of families can enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
