Last night 185, 228, Butler 21 and Butler 42 responded to the 77 Mile Marker of I79 NB for a vehicle fire, 185 chief arrived and reported a vehicle well off, 228 Engine stretched a line and knocked the fire. With todays warmer temperatures, please reframe from burning due to the windy conditions.

Between the hours of 18:00 on 3/13 to 19:00 on 3/14 the volunteers have responded to 19 calls of service. These calls have ranged from trees down, wires arching, brush fires, and 2 first due box alarms. Multiple roads reman closed through out the township, use caution traveling. A flood threat is under close watch for Pittsburgh and the I-70 corridor. This is due to heavy morning rain, which dropped almost an inch in Washington County, and the expectation of more showers and storms advancing from the west this afternoon and evening.

Here is the perfect opportunity to join the MTVFD. We are looking for Brigade, Associate members and Live-Ins. Staffers can receive a stipend check for running calls, and staffing the firehouse. The program runs 24/7 on a 4 shift rotation.

The shifts are as following:
6am-12pm
12pm-6pm
6pm-10pm
10pm-6am

Each shift is worth $20 and each call ran is also worth $20. Members can get paid up to $100 a shift (4 calls per shift equaling $100.)

Associate member are required to have Pro-board Firefighter 1. Live-In rooms available now. More information can be provided by contacting our page. Apply at: https://marshallvfd.org

I'm pleased to announce fire and emergency response organizations in the 28th Legislative District have been awarded $177,137 in grants from the state.

Our volunteer fire companies and EMS providers work tirelessly to keep us safe. This funding helps ensure they have the equipment, training and resources needed to continue serving our communities effectively. Iโ€™m proud to support programs that strengthen public safety.

The following grants were awarded in the 28th Legislative District:

โ€ข Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company - $12,426.
โ€ข Hampton Township Volunteer Fire Department - $15,518.
โ€ข Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Company # 1 - $15,106.
โ€ข McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority - $15,000.
โ€ข Richland EMS Inc. - $15,000.
โ€ข Richland Township VFD - $14,900.
โ€ข Shaler Hampton EMS - $15,000.
โ€ข West Deer EMS - $15,000.
โ€ข West Deer Volunteer Fire Department #1 - $12,220.
โ€ข West Deer Volunteer Fire Department #2 - $15,106.

While the station remains staffed during the winter storm, we would like to make sure our residents are clearing 3 foot areas on all sides of their fire hydrants. In case of a fire emergency, our crews need to be able to access a water supply quickly. Stay safe!

With the winter weather this weekend, we recommend everyone stays off the road until cleared by our public works department. The department will continue to be staffed throughout the storm. All emergencies will be handled safely and efficiently. Please make sure to clear snow from fire hydrants and house ventilators. Stay safe!

2025 marks the end of great year for station 185, running 695 calls of service with 19 working fire and 3 crashes with entrapment. As well as a new engine was purchased that will be delivered at the beginning of 2027. The volunteers responded to 6 calls of service today. We are looking for both Brigade and Associate members. Staffers can receive a stipend check for running calls, and staffing the firehouse. The program runs 24/7 on a 4 shift rotation.
