Special thanks to two of our first responder members who are also nurses — bringing additional experience to emergency scenes when it matters most.

If you're a nurse and you’ve thought about serving your community in another way, we’d love to talk with you about joining our department. You can complete steps to provide care at the emergency medical responder (EMR) level. Not sure about becoming a firefighter? No problem, we welcome nurses interested in responding to medical calls only. Not a nurse but still interested in joining? The department will send you to medical first responder training! Our team recently completed important hands-on training focused on motor vehicle accidents. The session covered critical skills including fire extrication techniques and EMR patient contact and care.

A huge thank you to Runde Metal Recycling for their continued support and for providing us with a realistic training environment where our team could practice these life-saving skills in real-world conditions.

Training like this keeps our members sharp and prepared to serve our community when every second counts.

Firefighter Lori A. Boelkes, 56
Warrens Area Fire District. Warrens, WI
Firefighter Boelkes responded to a motor vehicle crash on February 14, 2025, at 1:36 p.m. as the driver of Tender 1. Firefighter Boelkes cleared the scene at 1:47 p.m. and returned to the station. While driving home from the station, Firefighter Boelkes became ill. Her husband took her to Tomah Hospital where it was determined she had a stroke. Firefighter Boelkes was transferred to Marshfield Medical Center where she passed away on February 27, 2025.

Our annual fire department appreciation dinner was held this past weekend. We are very grateful for the dedication of our firefighters and medical first responders.

During the event, we recognized EMR and Firefighter Angela Krueger who reached 10 years of dedicated service in 2025.

Congratulations Angela, and thank you!

Pat has earned the title of Firefighter and gets to switch his helmet from a yellow probationary one to the black firefighter's helmet.
