🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Some dogs chase tennis balls. Some chase squirrels. And some have a much more serious job: helping people during disasters.

Search-and-rescue dogs can be trained to locate people who are missing, trapped, or buried after events such as tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, and building collapses.

Their incredible noses can detect scents that humans simply can't, while their agility allows them to search areas that may be difficult or unsafe for people to reach.

And it isn't just about finding people. Disaster-response dogs may also be trained to:
🐾 Search large areas for missing persons
🐾 Locate survivors after structural collapses
🐾 Work alongside emergency responders
🐾 Provide comfort and emotional support after traumatic events

These four-legged professionals work hard and yes; they still deserve a belly rub after their shift.

So today, give your favorite dog an extra treat and remember the specially trained pups who help emergency responders find hope when it matters most.

Happy National Dog Day & let's see those pups in the comments!

BREAKING NEWS: The Great Traffic Migration is BACK!

If your 5-minute drive suddenly takes 15…welcome back to school!

With students, buses, parents, and college traffic filling the roads, remember:
• Slow down
• Watch for students
• Never pass a stopped bus
• Leave early
• Put the phone down

The goal isn’t to get there first, it’s to get everyone there safely.

Here’s to a safe school year to all of our county schools!!
