🌱 Protecting our soil and nutrients with cover crops! 🌱
Our community gardens are seeding their cover crops and building healthy soil together. Cover crops help protect soil over winter, support soil biology, and increase organic matter for the seasons ahead. 🌿🐝
A mixture of peas and oats are being interseeded with the thriving vegetable crops. This gives the cover crops a head start while gardeners are still harvesting vegetables.
We are also hosting cover crop workshops with our local community gardens to chat about cover crop management and soil health benefits! 🌱🤝
This cover crop program is supported by a Climate Resilient Farming Grant.

3. Walk with the SUNY Adirondack Farm Manager to learn about their soil health practices.
