Good morning! It's a sunny start to our day with temperatures currently in the upper 60s & low 70s this morning. Mostly sunny skies are expected through the day with hot temps in the upper 90s to near 100° this afternoon with SSW winds 5 to 10 Mph. Heat index values around 105 to 108°..
The "Extreme Heat Watch" was canceled for tomorrow and the "Heat Advisory" which begins at noon today, will now run through 8PM Friday Sept 4th.
Rain chances this week are slim to none.

Tonight: Mainly clear skies are expected with warm overnight lows in the mid to upper 70s.

Remain hydrated and limit outdoor activities. Check on neighbors and the elderly. Watch for signs of heat illnesses and heat stroke.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Maries County in central Missouri... Miller County in central Missouri... Northern Pulaski County in central Missouri... Northwestern Phelps County in east central Missouri... East central Camden County in central Missouri...

* Until 245 AM CDT.

* At 204 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Hickory Hill to 10 miles north of Iberia to 7 miles west of Richland, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Rolla, Lake of The Ozarks State Park, St. Robert, Dixon, Belle, Crocker, Iberia, Doolittle, Vienna, Newburg, St. Elizabeth, Tuscumbia, Eugene, Brumley, Etterville, Brinktown, Ulman, Devil's Elbow, Vichy, and Northwye.

This includes Interstate 44 between mile markers 164 and 169, and between mile markers 171 and 191.

Latest Mesoscale Discussion:

Severe storm potential is increasing late this afternoon into the evening, with the main concern being damaging wind gusts. If storms develop, the risk may grow across the area.
As of right now, the higher risk is for areas to our northeast. As always, we'll continue to monitor and keep you updated.

* WHAT...Daily maximum heat index values around 100 degrees are expected with a few locations reaching 105 degrees.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
