We've been nerding out on Warrensburg history recently as we work on some interior decoration projects at George Henry's. Came across a lot of references for our building throughout the years and we thought you may enjoy some of the headlines and articles we discovered. Our friends at Hudson & Main inspired us to share some of our finds.

Our first post includes our parking lot which, as you may know, can be challenging ...

Dog ‘Drives’ Truck Into Apartment; Wall Is Demolished

WARRENSBURG — A German shepherd dog was held responsible yesterday at 3:45 p.m. for a run-away log truck crashing into the house at 34 Main St. and demolishing the northeast wall of the home. It is the second such accident at the house in the past six months.

Michael Lawler of Horicon Ave. parked the southbound truck near the Town Clerk’s office and went into Potter’s Diner for coffee. When he came out, he saw the truck rolling down the hill and crossing the street through the Warren Inn parking lot before it struck the home. The truck also broke off a water hydrant near the home. The vehicle was not loaded.

The portion of the home it struck was an unoccupied apartment. The upstairs apartment is occupied by Mrs. Beula Burch and her son, Maurice and the stairs leading to their rooms were smashed.
Lawler reported to the Chief of Police Arthur McNeill that he had left the truck in gear with his dog inside. He believes the dog knocked the truck out of gear.

Last June a similar accident happened when a truck loaded with an explosive chemical crashed into the same home and demolished the front wall. The house is owned by Maurice J. Ash.

More archival finds coming soon…

🍓🎬 A Great Friday Afternoon in Warrensburg! 🎬🍓

Two wonderful community organizations are offering special events on Friday, June 12, and we hope you'll enjoy both!

Start with a visit to the Warrensburgh Museum of Local History for the final weekend of our Famous Footsteps exhibit. From 4:00–7:00 PM, visitors can view a limited selection of artifacts once owned by Elvis Presley and enjoy a screening of an iconic 1955 Golden Age comedy.

Then stop by the Fourth Annual Strawberry Festival, sponsored by Warrensburgh Beautification at the Recreation Field Pavilion on Library Avenue from 3:00–6:00 PM. Enjoy strawberry treats, local vendors, live music, crafts, demonstrations, and more.

Warrensburgh Beautification and the Warrensburgh-Thurman Historical Society have long shared a commitment to celebrating and strengthening our community, and Friday offers a perfect opportunity to support both organizations.

🌭 Business Member Spotlight: New Way Lunch 🌭

The Warrensburgh-Thurman Historical Society is proud to recognize New Way Lunch as one of our valued Business Members.

Since 1919, New Way Lunch has been serving generations of residents and visitors throughout the southern Adirondacks. Founded by Greek immigrant John Floro, this family-owned business has become a regional tradition, famous for its signature hot dogs, homemade meat sauce, and friendly atmosphere.

Known affectionately to many as "Dirty John's," New Way Lunch has been a favorite gathering place for over a century. Whether you're a lifelong local or just passing through, chances are you've enjoyed a hot dog at one of their counters and become part of a tradition that spans generations.

Historic businesses help preserve the character, stories, and shared memories that make our communities special. We are grateful for New Way Lunch's support of local history and heritage.

Thank you, New Way Lunch, for helping keep history alive!
