🚧 EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

The right lane of eastbound I-70 is scheduled to close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the West Warrenton Boulevard interchange (mile marker 191.8) in Warren County, due to a pavement failure. The closure will be located between the West Warrenton Blvd. interchange off and on-ramps. Repairs are anticipated to be completed and reopen to traffic by 7 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Delays on I-70 are expected during this temporary closures. To alleviate congestion, motorists are strongly advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

For updates please refer to the Traveler Information Map. Please remember to obey all work zone signs and personnel. All work zones and traffic impacts are online at www.modot.org/northeast.

August 2026 Board of Directors Meeting Summary

The Warren County Ambulance District Board of Directors recently held its meeting on August 25th. Below are highlights from the meeting, organized by the Board agenda:

Tax Ordinance 26-01
Tax Ordinance 26-01 was approved, setting the 2026 tax rate at $0.4542 per $100 of assessed valuation and a recoupment rate of $0.0085 per $100 for uncollected 2025 tax revenue resulting from an error in assessed valuation information received in 2025.

Public Comments
There were no public comments.

Regional Updates
The Highway 47 overpass is complete and open. The current I-70 traffic configuration is expected to remain in place through winter 2026.

Chief's Reports
Chief Lenk reported that WCAD responded to 433 requests for service in July, bringing the year-to-date total to 3,421 requests.

Deputy Chief Alcorn reported July unit hour utilization of 6.45% and announced that WCAD received $10,766.13 in grant funding to support several safety projects.

Deputy Chief Romeo had no report.

IAFF Report
The IAFF reported that the shop has expanded its workforce with recent hiring.

New Business
The Board approved the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan and the Standard Fatigue Management Policy.

WCAD welcomed Karen as its new Bookkeeper. Karen is a lifelong Warren County resident with a background in education and financial management.

Michelle was also welcomed as WCAD's new financial consultant. She brings extensive experience in tax-based finance, as well as working with fire protection and EMS agencies.

The Lifeline ambulance ordered in 2024 remains on schedule for completion in the first quarter of 2027. A 2027 Dodge Durango has also been ordered to replace the district's 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.

School may have just started, but our paramedics and EMTs learn year-round!

Recently, our crews took part in hands-on training alongside Monarch Fire Protection District, focused on obstetric and pregnancy emergencies. Using the University of Missouri’s simulation bus, crews were able to train in a realistic, hands-on environment right here in our community.

These are high-acuity, low-frequency emergencies, making regular training especially important. Hands-on simulations give our crews the opportunity to practice these skills in a realistic environment, so when they encounter one of these situations, they have high-quality training and experience to fall back on.

This training was made possible through partnerships with organizations and experts who help us continue building our skills, including the MU Shelden Clinical Simulation Center, Missouri EMS for Children -EMSC, St. Louis Children's Hospital, and WashU EMS Physicians.

Realistic, hands-on training helps our crews stay prepared for the emergencies we may encounter — because when you need us, there’s no substitute for being ready.
