🌱 FEAST FROM THE FIELD 🍽️🌻
It really doesn’t get much better than this. 💚
Each year, the Fauquier Education Farm’s Feast from the Field brings people together to celebrate something much bigger than a meal — it celebrates the full circle of growing, learning, giving, and community.

Come be a part of it! 🌻 Grab your tickets for Feast from the Field and help support the incredible work happening at the Fauquier Education Farm.

Throughout the season, crops at the Education Farm are planted and cared for by volunteers and participants in Beginning Farmer workshops. Along the way, people gain hands-on experience and learn skills they can use to grow food of their own.

And then that harvest goes right back into our community. ❤️

Fresh produce grown at the farm is donated to area food banks, helping provide healthy, locally grown food to neighbors who need it most.

🌱 Teach people how to grow.
🤝 Bring volunteers together.
🥕 Grow fresh, local food.
❤️ Give it back to the community.

And once a year, Feast from the Field gives us a chance to gather around the table and celebrate everything the Fauquier Education Farm represents.

From a seed planted in the soil to food placed on a neighbor’s table — this is agriculture at its best. 🌾💚

We are also looking forward to our Feast From the Field on September 12th. This year we will be at Longwood Farm just a few miles from the Fauquier Education Farm and we'll be dining in a spectacular barn. Details are on the flyer along with a QR code that will take you straight to the ticket sales, or the link below, it's really easy and it's active right now. Go ahead and buy those tickets now so you've got a fun evening to look forward to. This is our major fundraiser of the year and all proceeds go to support our educational and volunteer opportunities, and the fact that we have donated over 403 tons of fresh produce to multiple local food banks since 2014!

Beyond her legendary music career, she will be remembered for her generosity, love of learning, and commitment to helping young people succeed through efforts like the Imagination Library. Thank you, Dolly, for showing us the power of dreaming big, giving back, and staying true to your roots. 💚

A message from the Fauquier Education Farm: What’s been happening at the Farm:
On Monday, we had a great crew of volunteers. First we picked some really beautiful peppers and some tomatoes. Then we moved on to loads of summer squash before the big event with more cantaloupe and watermelon, a lot more. Plus we added in more butternut, delicata and spaghetti squash. Our donation total was 5532 lbs.

On Tuesday, things got pretty wild while planting at the farm! We are grateful that we have had some good volunteer numbers for our large harvest lately, but planting is just as important, and we have quite a bit to do. We can't have huge harvest without a lot of planting, and here's your chance. We’ll be planting on Tuesday this week.

On Wednesday we just a couple of the very best volunteers. Working with Sam and Nancy, we were able to plant about 2000 seedlings of Brussels sprouts, and two kinds of green cabbage. The dedication of this small crew was impressive; they pushed on and weren't going to stop until they filled the whole patch.

On Thursday, we had a wonderful crew; we had a lot of fun and while helping a lot of local families in need. First we split up harvesting tomatoes and summer squash. Then we all worked on picking peppers before the huge watermelon and cantaloupe harvest. This harvest came to 4650 lbs. This brings our season donation total up to 50,866 lbs, and there's so much more to come. Don't forget, we can't keep bringing in big harvest unless we plant the next crops

Friday was a beautiful morning at the farm with one frequent volunteer and a new family. We planted 2 long rows of kale. That might not sound like much after all those recent days with 5 to 7 rows planted, but we plant kale at a much tighter spacing than cabbage. These 2 rows we planted today took 8 trays or 1024 plants. It's always great to welcome new volunteers that are all excited about being able to help.

Next week:
Last week we donated over 10,000 lbs. This week will bring a flood of pretty tomatoes and we'll still have plenty of watermelons on both Monday and Thursday mornings. We are asking for volunteers on Monday and Thursday mornings at 8AM for our regular harvest. On Tuesday morning at 8AM we'll be planting more kale and collards. We had an earlier post asking for volunteers on Friday morning September 4th, but we had a prior commitment for that day. So it's Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8AM. Hope you can join us!
