**CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER**

The City of Warrenton is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Police Department as a full-time Code Enforcement Officer. This position offers a competitive pay range of $59,488.00 – $65,665.60 yearly DOQ.

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Receives and responds to reports and complaints of Municipal Code violations from citizens and city officials.
•Research property ownership through available resources; city utility listings, county, and state records, business licenses and permits, title searches, etc.
•Patrols the city to detect and deter crime; enforces local ordinances, state law, and federal law; performs community policing activities; inspects businesses; regulates traffic; issues warnings and citations; makes arrests
•Represents the City in public hearings, meetings, and legal actions involving violation status and compliance proceedings.
•Conducts investigations of crime scenes; identifies, collects, and preserves evidence; interviews victims, witnesses, and suspects; prepares case files and testifies in court as required
•Apprehends, arrests, and processes offenders.
Performs traffic enforcement duties and maintains safe traffic conditions; investigates accidents; provides escorts; reports unsafe streets and facilities.

Must be POST certified.

Warrenton police officer Kristel Hollingsworth spent the last part of June working both the FIFA Fan Festival and even a World Cup game – the Netherlands vs. Tunisia on June 28 – inside Kansas City Stadium.

*Armed Mental Health Crisis at Holy Rosary Cemetery*

At approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, the Warrenton Police Department responded to Holy Rosary Cemetery after receiving a report of a suicidal subject who was armed with a .38 caliber revolver.

Officers from the Warrenton Police Department arrived on scene and requested the assistance of Wright City Police Department, Warren County Sheriff's Department, Truesdale Police Department, and Missouri State Highway Patrol.

For approximately five hours, officers from Warrenton Police Department, Wright City Police Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol negotiated with the subject in an effort to resolve the situation peacefully. The Missouri State Highway Patrol ultimately deployed a Taser, allowing officers to safely take the individual into custody without injury.

The subject was transported to a mental health facility where they will receive further evaluation and appropriate care.

The Warrenton Police Department would like to thank the Wright City Police Department, Warren County Sheriff's Department, Truesdale Police Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their assistance throughout the incident. Incidents involving individuals in crisis require patience, sound judgment, and coordination, and we're grateful for the support of our partner agencies in bringing the situation to a safe conclusion.

Calls involving individuals in mental health crisis are among the most unpredictable and potentially dangerous situations law enforcement officers encounter. Every Warrenton Police Department officer is Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trained, providing them with specialized training to recognize and respond to these incidents, de-escalate situations when possible, and make sound decisions under rapidly changing circumstances.

🚨PURSUIT LEADS TO DRUG ARREST🚨

On July 3rd, 2026, at approximately 1:18pm, an officer conducted a welfare check on a vehicle parked within a construction zone on the Hwy 47 overpass. The vehicle was observed unoccupied and parked inside traffic cones with its hazard lights activated bearing plates out of Ohio.

The driver was observed on the bridge overlooking Interstate 70. The driver appeared confused and made incoherent statements regarding a deceased dog and attempting to locate it on the highway. The officer attempted to continue the interaction and obtain identification due to the improper parking within the construction area. The subject then became uncooperative and returned to his vehicle.

The subject refused to roll his window down and left the area traveling westbound on Interstate 70. The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle at Warrenton Blvd where the driver was observed acting erratically inside the vehicle. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle at which point it failed to yield and returned back to Interstate 70 heading eastbound.

A pursuit was initiated and continued until the vehicle exited back onto Hwy 47 and came to a stop at Fast Lane Central. Another officer was able to box the vehicle in at a fuel pump. The driver was given verbal commands and ordered to exit the vehicle at gunpoint but refused to comply. The subject was then removed from the vehicle via the driver’s side window and placed into custody without incident.

A search incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine. The subject was later identified as John Kwiatkowski of Warren Ohio and is facing the following charges:

• Failing to Obey a Traffic Control Device
• Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle
• Resisting Arrest
• Possession of a Controlled Substance

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Update: MISSING JUVENILE LOCATED SAFE

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at approximately 1:50 p.m., officers with the Warrenton Police Department responded to the Flying J Travel Center after receiving information from the Montgomery County Children’s Division that a missing 13-year-old juvenile was believed to be located in the rear parking lot of the business.

Upon arrival, officers quickly located the juvenile, who was confirmed to be the missing child. EMS was requested to the scene to evaluate the juvenile as a precaution. After being assessed by EMS personnel, the juvenile was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Columbia for further evaluation and care.

The Warrenton Police Department is grateful for the information provided by the Montgomery County Children’s Division and EMS for providing care. We appreciate the public’s support and encourage anyone with information pertaining to a missing person/child to contact law enforcement immediately.

Last week, the Warrenton Police Department traveled to Kansas City to assist with security during the FIFA World Cup matches. Our officer was assigned to crowd control and general security operations at the stadium, as well as in downtown Kansas City during the FIFA Fan Festival.

The Warrenton Police Department is proud to have the ability to support our law enforcement partners in Kansas City. Strong partnerships and teamwork help keep our communities safe—both near and far.
