The Fauquier County Democratic Committee (FCDC) is a part of the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) which, in turn, is the state arm of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The DNC is the ultimate organizing, policy and political rule-making body for the Democratic Party in the USA which counts Virginia's Thomas Jefferson and Tennessee's Andrew Jackson as its founders. As part of its duties r
epresenting the Democratic Party within Fauquier Co., Virginia, the FCDC is responsible for recruiting, nominating and assisting in the election of Democrats to the local governing body, to the Virginia General Assembly, the statewide offices of Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General , the upper and lower houses of the U.S. President and Vice President. The local Democratic Committee also takes part in public discussion of local, state and national issues, and is involved in community activities as part of public outreach efforts. Members of the Committee practice good citizenship and can be found as active participants in government, social, fraternal, religious and service organizations, and as members of the county business community. Fauquier Democrats come from all walks of life and have viewpoints from across the political spectrum but are united by many common goals. Members of the Committee and their neighbors take part in pre- and election day activities at the various polling places around the county. When greeting voters arriving to cast their ballots, they provide voting information and sample ballots. They also collect and pass on information about voters who may need transportation to the polls or need to consult with the precinct Judge of Elections or the County Electoral Board. The Committee meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM in the Warren Green Building, 10 Hotel Street, Warrenton, VA.
