The purpose of the City’s social media sites is to obtain and disseminate information to residents, visitors, and community partners about activities, programs, goals and initiatives, news, and other information and material intended to increase public awareness, social capital, and civic engagement. The City uses social media to further the goals of the City and the missions of its departments, where appropriate, and subject to the terms and conditions contained in this policy. The purpose of this policy is to outline the terms and use, prohibited content, and disclaimers as they apply to users of all City social media accounts that serve as a communication tool between the City and public. Comments and discussions that take place on City social media sites may be moderated by the City for compliance with this policy and are also subject to the policies established by the third-party social media companies. Note that the City’s predominant and primary internet presence is the City’s website (https://warrenville.il.us/), and the City’s social media sites are intended to supplement the City’s website. Prohibited User Content:
The City reserves the right to restrict or remove any user content that is deemed in violation of this Policy or any applicable law or court order. Therefore, information, posts, and comments by users that contain any of the following content is not allowed and the City reserves the right to remove them from the site:
1. Obscene, violent, sexual, or pornographic content and/or language;
2. Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, marital status, familial status, national origin, age, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected status under applicable law;
3. Promotion of any business, product, services, or activities not related to government business;
4. Illegal conduct or conduct that encourages illegal activity;
5. Information that may compromise the safety and security of the public systems;
7. Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party, such as a copyright or trademark;
8. Comments in support of or opposition to political campaigns or ballot measures. Users who repeatedly violate this Policy may be subject to being banned or blocked from City social media sites. Disclaimer:

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube accounts are privately operated sites and the terms and conditions of each respective site apply.
“Friending,” “liking,” and/or similar exchanges/actions between City-managed social media pages does not indicate endorsement of that user’s actions or comments. Public comments posted on City social media pages do not reflect the views and values of the City of Warrenville. The City makes no representation regarding the accuracy of any public comment and does not endorse any of the views or opinions of any member of the public that has commented on this page. The City of Warrenville does not guarantee the reliability or accuracy of any third-party links. The City of Warrenville reserves the right to remove any comment or conversation that is prohibited by this Social Media Use Policy. All participation is at your own risk, and you assume personal responsibility for your comments, username, and any information provided. This forum is not constantly monitored.
