Last evening, we went over to the Weisel Preserve in Warrington to fence in and protect a lot of the shrubs and trees (that we planted there many years ago) from our deer friends. They had been separately caged, but have grown exponentialy. We now put a higher fence around 9 of the shrubs. We also placed larger cages around some of the trees.

What a special group!! We accomplished a lot! The habitat at the Weisel Preserve is starting to improve with the planting and maintenance of all the shrubs and trees that we are working so hard to establish.

We had over 50 volunteers for Warrington's 2026 Community Service Day on May16th. Included were members of the WEAC, Warrington’s Park and Rec, Penn State Master Gardeners and Watershed Stewards, Girl Scouts, Gals Giving Back and members of the Board of Supervisors. We thank Panera Bread, Wawa and Wegmans for their donations. The volunteers made beautiful places more beautiful in our township. The value of the volunteer’s time exceeded $5000.

Multiple park sites were worked on. Native shrubs and trees at the Weisel Preserve received care. The native grass beds adjacent to the wetland in Upper Nike Park received care as did the Memorial Rock at Lions Pride Park. Gardens at the Lindy Center were tended and mulched and trees were planted. The Butterfly and Rain Garden at IPW, the Monarch Waystation and Pollinator Garden received much needed care. The bird blind at Lower Nike was power washed. Another group of people sweetened the gardens at Mary Barness Park.

All these efforts make Warrington a more enjoyable place to live. Please contact the Warrington Environmental Advisory Council individually or with your group, to help maintain the parks and spaces we all use.
