We are so excited to announce a partnership with the Native American Education Program for Summer History Camp! Monday's programming will feature Folklorama's Brian Clyne Family Troupe! They will help teach us more about Warroad's Native American culture! Thank you so much to the Native American Education Program for helping us with Summer History Camp!

Good morning and happy ! Our picture today is of St. Mary's Catholic Church. You can see the stone carving of Father Aulneau, the Jesuit priest that accompanied LaVerandrye on his journey to find the western sea. He was with LaVerandrye's eldest son, Jean Baptiste, when they were ambushed and killed on their way to Michilimackinac for supplies in June of 1736.

Registration for Summer History Camp 2026 is now open!!! Use the link to fill out the form. Sessions are capped at 12 students per session. The morning session is 9am-12pm and the afternoon session is 1pm-4pm. Age is restricted to students who have just finished grades 3-5 or age 9-11. If you are submitting an application for more than one student, please fill out two separate forms. If you have any questions with the form, please email us at [email protected]

Sorry for the late post! For our pic today we have the famous Cal's Cabins! These were located where the old Casino parking lot is, now across from the DNR building and Cal’s Boathouse. Do you have any stories about these cabins?

Thank you so much to Anne Levin, Jillian Odland, and the rest of the team at the Minnesota Historical Society for the tour of the newspaper digitizing process! It was so cool to see the preservation process and how much work goes into getting the papers on the website! If you want to know more about the process stop in to see Brady at the museum!

As of now, the next batch of Warroad newspapers will begin the process in August of this year. We will keep you posted on when they will become accessible on the newspaper.mnhs.org
