The Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers held their annual Spring Fling on Thursday evening March 14th. The Kos. Co. Chorus opened the evening by sharing several songs. Then the Rural Neighbors Extension Homemakers served a delicious Baked Potato Bar and a variety of cookies for dessert. Carol Droke then shared information on Ireland. Judy Egolf then honored the 3 scholarship winners. Libby Haab and Lucas Wilkinson, who will be Sophomores at Huntington College and Lindsay Petersen, a 2026 Tippecanoe Valley graduate, will be joining them. The Officers for the 2026-27 Extension year were installed by Sue Martin. They are Marsha Miller President, Martha Whetstone Vice-President, Carol Droke Secretary and Cathi Zdenek Treasurer. Also honored were Judy Egolf who is leaving the official board after many years and Sue Martin, Fair Director who is stepping down after the 2026 fair.

THIS SHOW WHAT DECIATION REALLY IS! LAST FRIDAY ON A COLD WINDY DAY THE KOSCIUSKO COUNTY EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS HAD THEIR ANNUAL PORT-A-PIT EVENT. 5 OF THESE LADIES SPENT 7 HOURS HELPING WITH THE SALES AND MANY OTHERS SPENT AT LEAST 2 HOURS THERE. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED US.

On March 31st 4 members of the Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers attend the Spring District meeting in Knox, IN. DeeAnna Muraski, County President and Martha Whetstone, Voluntary Community Support Leader are seating at the front table and Marsha Miller, the in-coming President is wearing the beige jacket at the table by the wall. Alice Keirn, Public relations also attended. DeeAnna attended the President's meeting and we heard about what has happened this past year and what we should look forward to in the 2026-27 year.

2026 KOSCIUSKO COUNTY EXTENSION HOMEMAKER'S PORT-A-PIT
It's that time of year again. The Extension Homemakers will again be hosting a Nelson's Golden Glow Chicken fund raiser to raise money to fund their annual Scholarship Program on FRIDAY MAY 1st at the JB Furniture Store parking lot on Center Street in Warsaw. All Extension Homemakers members have ticket to sell. Pre-Sale Chicken tickets are $10.00, and Pit Potatoes tickets are $5.00. The day of the sale Chicken Tickets will be $11.00 and the Pit Potatoes will be $5.00! Get a delicious meal and help a great cause!

The Lesson on CHARCUTERIE scheduled for 12 pm on January 28, 2026 and the President's Council meeting to follow at 1:15 pm on January 28, have both been cancelled because of the cold weather and blowing snow. If you are getting cabin fever like I am you might work on a Cultural Arts projects for Spring Fling. The special project is Children's hand/homemade book or toy the other categories are-knitting/crochet, quilting-needlework and miscellaneous. It's time for students and others to apply for Scholarships given by the KOSCIUSKO COUNTY EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS. Any high school /college student who is a resident of Kosciusko County or a present/past member of a Kosciusko County Purdue Extension organization (such as 4-H, Master Gardeners or Extension Homemakers) any age, single or married may apply.

The Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers will award two (2) $1,000 scholarships to a college/university student including those seeking a two year associates degree. One (1) $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student seeking a certificate in a Career & Technical program.

The State Extension Homemakers Association also offers the following, The Ruth Sayre Scholarship and the Steps to Success Scholarship.

The FILLEABLE APPICATIONS for the above Scholarships can be found the contacting the High School Counselor or the Kosciusko County Extension office using the following: Extension .purdue.edu/county/county/Kosciusko, select Kosciusko County 4-H Scholarship information, select Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers Scholarship Application. You also can contact the Extension Office .edu for help.

A career Advancement Scholarship is available to an Extension Homemaker's Club Member who is 25 years old or older, this application can be found on the Indiana Extension Homemaker's Website.
