Even if you don’t use I-95 regularly, this highway affects all Virginians. We use it to travel to work, to reach vacation destinations, and even to receive packages ordered online, transported by freight trucks that use the highway.

A study is underway for the 179 miles of the I-95 corridor from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Alexandria to the Virginia border with North Carolina.

The State of Virginia invites you to provide input into the study, through public meetings and/or an online survey. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB), supported by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and the Virginia State Police (VSP), will study Interstate 95 (I-95) to identify priorities as well as potential revenue sources that could be dedicated...

First Bay Transit Bus Shelter in the Northern Neck
Bay Transit, a division of Bay Aging, has inaugurated its first bus shelter in the Northern Neck, at the Regional Shelter in the Town of Warsaw, in Richmond County. Public officials joined Kathy Vesley-Massey, President and CEO of Bay Aging, to cut the ceremonial ribbon at 457 Main Street on April 15, 2019.

From left to right: Jerry W. Davis, Executive Director of the Northern Neck Planning District Commission; James Long, member of the Board of Supervisors of Northumberland County and Vice Chairman of the Northern Neck Planning District Commission; Kathy Vesley-Massey, President and CEO of Bay Aging; Jason Bellows, Chairman of Lancaster County’s Board of Supervisor as well as of the Northern Neck Planning District Commission; Lee Sanders, Chairman of Richmond County’s Board of Supervisors and Treasurer of the Northern Neck Planning District Commission; and Morgan Quicke, Richmond County Administrator

The Northern Neck Planning District Commission, which is located at the Regional Center, proposed the site to Bay Transit. It also provided an existing concrete pad for the installation. The shelter ties in with the Commission’s Northern Neck Commuter Services (NeckRide.org) program—a regional Transportation Demand Management initiative partly funded by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (VDRPT).

The shelter arrived at the site in March, in a large box and ready to be assembled. It features a built-in bench and solar-powered lights that turn on automatically at night.

“In addition to giving shelter to our riders,” said Michael Norvell, Bay Transit’s Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, “the structures will provide additional visibility to our services.”

“We are now working with the Town of Montross and the Village of Callao to install a shelter in each location,” he added.

As funding becomes available, Bay Transit plans to install additional shelters throughout the Northern Neck region, beginning with the destinations most used by its riders.

NNK Uber

Uber is here in the #northernneck!

Know what I'm getting tired of? Driving hours away to work when people here have expressed a need!

I will be trying locally again this coming weekend. Please do your best to keep me busy and help me and other drivers stay closer to home.

Drivers, if you haven't reached out to me yet, please do!

Riders, remember that this is entirely app based - be sure to install the Uber app. To keep things fair for everyone, requests for rides through this page (haters, there are less than five of us) will be routed to the nearest driver that I am aware of. First, check the app. If it says "no drivers available," contact me here.

I believe that we can start a trend here, my friends and neighbors! Let's ride! :)
