🚨 COMMUNITY PSA – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

Morgan County residents β€” just a heads up for tomorrow morning 4/7/2026:

There will be a multi-agency emergency response drill taking place at Wartburg Central High School.

This is a planned training exercise focused on drunk driving awareness ahead of prom season.

You may see a large presence of:
πŸš“ Law Enforcement
πŸš’ Fire Departments
πŸš‘ EMS & Morgan County EMS
🚨 Rescue Squad
πŸ“ž 911 Personnel
🚁 LifeStar

πŸ‘‰ IMPORTANT:
This is ONLY a drill β€” there is no real emergency.

The goal is to help educate students and prepare first responders for real-life situations, especially with prom approaching.

Please help us spread the word so no one is alarmed when they see emergency vehicles and activity at the school.

πŸ’¬ Take this as a reminder:
Make safe choices. Don’t drink and drive. One decision can change everything.

Don't forget!

We don't want to "spring" an unwelcome surprise on you, but Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 2 a.m., when all clocks should "spring forward" one hour to 3 a.m..! Tennesseans should use the opportunity to check the batteries of their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure these important devices are functioning.

Remember: Most fire fatalities occur at night while victims are sleeping. The harmful smoke and toxic gases generated by a home fire can cause people to sleep more deeply which reduces the likelihood of escaping a home fire. Working smoke alarms can alert a home’s sleeping residents thereby doubling the chances of survival by increasing the amount of time residents have to escape a house fire.

Need working smoke alarms? Contact your local fire department and ask if they participate in our "Get Alarmed, Tennessee!" free smoke alarm program!

This winter weather often elevates fire risks for everyone. Remember to keep fire safety in mind during this time of year.

A few winter fire safety tips:

1. Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet from any heat source ( space heaters, fireplace, wood stove, etc ).

2. Make sure your chimney is cleaned and free from debris ( unkept chimneys is often the start of every chimney fire, which can lead to a residential structure fire ).

3. Be mindful of how many appliances are plugged into one outlet or surge protector, electrical fires are a major culprit of most residential structure fires. ( Main focus here would be space heaters this time of year ).

4. Make sure all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms are in working order by testing them on a regular basis.
