This past Monday at approximately 1830hrs while our companies were returning from a prior call and preparing for drill night, the Warwick Fire Department FAST (Firefighter Assist and Search Team) was dispatched to a 2nd alarm structure fire in the Greenwood Lake Fire Department. The Goodwill Hook & Ladder Company #1 with Tower Ladder 633 promptly responded with the FAST. Shortly after arrival Greenwood Lake command made the determination to switch to exterior operations only and put the tower to work for water operations, due to the fire load and structural instability. Warwick Engine 634 and Tanker 639 was also dispatched to standby for coverage in Greenwood Lake while they operate at the fire. Warwick standby companies from the Excelsior Hose Company #1 and Raymond Hose Company #2 responded to one call during their coverage.

The crew of TL633 remained on scene for approximately 4 hours rotating members in the bucket and performing overhaul.

On Monday, April 27th at approximately 0200hrs the Warwick Fire Dept was dispatched to a reported AFA (automatic fire alarm) at the strip mall adjacent to Price Chopper.

Upon arrival and initial size up of the structure, an investigation found a visible smoke condition in one of the businesses. That information was quickly relayed to responding units.

The truck crew quickly gained entry to the business and executed a coordinated effort with the 1st due engine to located and extinguish the fire. The fire was contained to a small area in the front of the business. Units continued to operate checking for extension in that unit but also methodically checking all surrounding units for any condition.

We would like to thank our Mutual Aid partners that assisted as well– Upper Greenwood Lake (WMFD Company #5) and Pine Island Fire Department.
No injuries were sustained during the operation and the crew returned to service at approximately 04:00.
