WEEKEND WEATHER WATCH- Update #2

A coastal storm is becoming increasingly likely for the area Friday into the weekend. The track of that storm matters - a lot!

Right now, the two big questions are;

🌧️ How close does it track towards us? That will determine how much rain and wind reach our area.

⏱️ How long does it stay? A prolonged period of rain and gusty winds could matter more than any single peak period - esp if this thing stalls out.

OCEM continues to maintain contact with our partner agencies as tomorrow we have a small drill scheduled with one of our utility partners. And of course we will be talking ‘weather’ while they’re here. Our focus as always - plan ahead, stay connected and be ready.

So what does this mean for OC? Right now - keep an eye on the weekend forecast. There are still a few ways this storm could play out, and small changes in the track could make a big difference in what we see in the local area.

🚨 ORANGE COUNTY EMERGENCY EXERCISE - SEPTEMBER 9

On Wednesday, September 9, Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and the Orange County Department of Emergency Services will conduct a large-scale emergency exercise simulating a significant flooding event across the County.

⚠️ THIS IS ONLY A TEST.
This exercise will bring County departments and emergency response partners together in the Emergency Operations Center to test coordination, communications, resource management, and our ability to respond effectively during a major emergency.

📱 As part of the exercise, Orange County will also test its Countywide Emergency Alert System.

Residents with compatible mobile devices within the targeted area may receive a TEST emergency alert during the exercise. No registration is required to receive these alerts.

⚠️ THIS IS ONLY A TEST.
If you receive the September 9 test message, there is no emergency, and no action is required.

September is National Emergency Preparedness Month, and there is no better time to put our plans, systems, and people to the test.
