The Rhode Island Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) is the state agency responsible for overseeing the regulation, licensing, enforcement and control of regulated cannabis in the State of Rhode Island. The Rhode Island Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) is an independent state agency established by the Rhode Island Cannabis Act of 2022 to oversee the regulation, licensing, enforcement, and control o
f both adult-use and medical cannabis in the state. As the regulatory authority, the CCC is committed to ensuring a safe, equitable, and well-regulated cannabis market. The Commission exercises all necessary powers for the implementation, administration, and enforcement of cannabis regulations while promoting public health, consumer protection, and industry integrity. Currently in a transitional period, the CCC will assume full regulatory authority following the finalization of its governing rules and regulations. At that time, oversight of The Edward O. Hawkins and Thomas C. Slater Medical Ma*****na Act, currently administered by other state agencies, will transfer to the CCC, with the potential delegation of certain responsibilities to the newly formed Cannabis Office. Until the transition is complete, the Office of Cannabis Regulation (OCR), under the Department of Business Regulation (DBR), continues to oversee the implementation and enforcement of existing cannabis regulations.
