πŸ›ΉπŸŒ³ New Shade Structures Added to the Robert J. Newhard Skatepark! β˜€οΈπŸ‘

The Warwick Skatepark Initiative (WSI) and the Village of Warwick recently partnered to add two new architectural features to the Robert J. Newhard Skatepark.

The project includes a 20' x 40' picnic and viewing pavilion, as well as a 10' x 20' shade structure located between the park's two primary skate featuresβ€”the Street Skate Area and the Bowl. The pavilion will be furnished with picnic tables for public use, providing a comfortable gathering space for skaters, families, and spectators.

This collaborative effort brought together the talents and resources of many individuals and organizations. Site excavation and earthwork were completed by the Village Department of Public Works. Site planning and coordination were provided by DeGraw and DeHaan Architects. The concrete slab work was completed by DeVries Contractors, and the structures were designed and constructed by Country Lane Woodworking.

Special thanks are extended to Bill Lindberg, who spearheaded the project, as well as DPW Supervisor Mike Moser, Assistant DPW Supervisor Mike Finelli, Jason Makuch, Tony Rivera, Jeff DeGraw, Chris DeHaan, Roman Zawojski, the Warwick Skatepark Initiative Committee, and Trustee Carly Foster, Village Board Park Liaison, for their contributions and support.

With the arrival of warmer weather, the timing could not be better for these attractive and functional additions to the skatepark. The new structures will provide much-needed shade and seating while enhancing the overall experience for park users and visitors alike.

🚧 Road Closure – Route 17A (Galloway Road)

As you enter the Village, you may notice signage indicating that Route 17A (Galloway Road) will be closed beginning June 19. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will be replacing the culvert near Larry’s Deli.

For clarification, the detour is primarily intended for large truck traffic. Local passenger vehicles will still be able to travel on Galloway Road and access the area by way of South Street and Lawrence Avenue.

This project will impact businesses located along Galloway Road. Please note that all businesses in the area will remain open and accessible during construction. At the Village’s request, NYSDOT will install signage at the intersections of Galloway Road and Forester Avenue, and Galloway Road and Oakland Avenue, informing motorists that local businesses remain open and accessible.

These businesses are an important part of our community, and your continued patronage during this period is greatly appreciated.
