Waseca County Dispatcher Norma Hoffmaster was recently recognized for 25 years of Service as a 911 Dispatcher. The majority of those years were with Rice & Steele 911 Center, but she is now a full-time dispatcher with Waseca County.

A career in public safety is one of constant change, challenge, and responsibility. As we know, the work of a dispatcher is often behind the scenes and out of the public eye, yet it remains one of the most vital roles in public safety. Twenty-five years of service in this profession is an extraordinary accomplishment and one that deserves to be celebrated. We are fortunate to have Norma working with our public safety professionals and serving the citizens of Waseca County.

Congratulations Norma!

REMINDER:

Waseca County activates ALL outdoor sirens when the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Warning for any part of the county.

Severe storms move quickly; therefore, even if your precise area is not yet included in the official tornado warning polygon, the threat could be moving towards your location. Upon hearing outdoor warning sirens, refer to local broadcast media for additional information.

Sirens are activated to promote situational awareness for those who are outdoors. Since you may not always hear them inside, be sure to have other means of weather notifications.

Yesterday, the Waseca Exchange Club was proud to recognize Sheriff Jay Dulas and Sgt. Tim Schroeder for their decades of dedicated service to Waseca County and the City of Waseca.

Both men represent the very best of community policing, serving, protecting, and building relationships in the community they live in.

As part of the National Exchange Club commitment to honoring law enforcement, we are proud to continue making this recognition an annual tradition. Thank you, Jay and Tim, for all you do for Waseca!

Thank you to the Waseca Exchange Club for the kind words and attached photo.

Notice of Road Closure: CSAH 15 (290th Ave)

CSAH 15 (290th Ave) in the vicinity of the Otisco railroad crossing will be closed on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The railroad tracks will be removed in advance of pavement resurfacing planned for later this summer. Additionally, local closures between Otisco and MN TH 13 and between 120th St and 128th St are necessary to facilitate excavation and re-monumentation of two section corners.

The work is anticipated to be completed in one day.

NATIONAL POLICE WEEK

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to pay respect to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

In Waseca County, we pay our respect to our two fallen Sheriffs. Sheriff Lemick A Larson who died on September 29, 1940 and Sheriff Donald D. Eustice who died on September 4, 1976. We are dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of all law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice and providing support to their families and colleagues.

This past week we recognize and show appreciation and gratitude for the men and women who courageously protect our communities.
